At this point, it's no real surprise when a popular movie or book franchise is turned into a videogame. What is shocking, however, is when the games created are as good as CD Projekt's The Witcher, an RPG that managed to capture players' imaginations, and remain true to the source material.

Now, CD Projekt is hoping to deliver this same level of authenticity and creativity in The Witcher: Adventure Game, a physical board game that is also coming to iPad.

A quick look at the announcement trailer (below) reveals that the developer isn't holding back in terms of content. By the look of things, the game is set to include popular franchise elements like hunting and combat, all wrapped up in the evolving plotlines and mysteries which characterise the series.

For digital players who still want some of the tactile fun of the physical game, the iPad version also promises to support DICE+. This clever Bluetooth dice peripheral will sync with the app, allowing physical rolls to be beamed directly into the game.

The Witcher: Adventure Game will offer 2-4 players the chance to play as any one of four characters from the series. No doubt this will lead to plenty of arguments in the character selection screen, with Geralt the Witcher likely to prove a more popular avatar than Dandelion the Bard.

Unfortunately no release date has yet been given for the physical game, or the iPad edition. However, the developer has assured us that it the game is "coming soon." The moment we know more, so will you.
