Codemasters chooses Singapore to play host to soft launch of endless-racer USA: Drive
If the idea of speeding your way across the United States of America in a car has you excitedly humming Born to be Wild, then you might want to check out Codemasters' recently soft-launched free-to-play endless-runner Drive: USA.
However, before you strap on your driving goggles, you'll want to check your postal address. You see, rather than soft launch Drive: USA in New Zealand or Canada, the developer has decided to use the Singapore App Store as a testing bed instead.
Drive: USA looks to be trying to blend the classic arcade racer Cruisin' USA with Temple Run. Set against a background of Americana, the familiar multi-lane action moves between cities, towns, and open road as you dodge and drift past traffic.
Codemasters is hoping that you'll keep coming back to beat your high scores, or overtake friends through in game and Facebook leaderboards.
A range of different power-up are also on hand to help you tear up the tarmac, along with a selection of different racers, cars, and modes. These will be unlockable through play or with the in-game currency Gizmo Coins. How much grinding you'll have to do to acquire these coins remains to be seen, however.
Though it's only available in the Singapore App Store at present, Drive: USA should appear in app stores globally in the not-too-distant future. We'll keep you informed.
