While The Witcher 3 may have been pushed back to 2015, fans of the franchise won’t have to wait that long for their next fix because CD Project has just unveiled The Witcher Battle Arena for iOS.

Rather than mimicking the expansive RPG formula of the main series, this mobile take on The Witcher is a MOBA. Like League of Legends and Dota 2, the gameplay revolves around capturing and holding strategic points to gain victory. Where it differs from much of the genre, however, is its focus on short intense battles.

Allowing up to six people to play together online, The Witcher Battle Arena offers plenty of game options. You can choose to play in six-way matches, enter into three-on-three brawls, or play against bots to hone your skills offline.

The Witcher Battle Arena

Battle Arena hasn’t completely forgotten its RPG roots. Selecting one of eight heroes, you can build and customise your character to suit your style. With a promise that the game will contain no pay-to-win features, you should be able to unlock all of your character's powers through play to let you further tweak your warrior.

So, whether you want to soup up Philippa Eilhar the sorcerer’s spells or give the witcher Letho of Gulet a more powerful sword-swing, it shouldn't take long to make your hero feel like your own.

The Witcher Battle Arena is set for release in the fourth quarter of 2014. We will have more news as it hits.
