Penultimate episode of The Wolf Among Us out now on iPhone and iPad

The fourth episode of Telltale's The Wolf Among Us is out now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. As his investigation into Fabletown's secrets begins to draw to a close, Bigsby Wolf is struggling to keep it together, with the bottle on his desk growning increasingly empty, and his inner beast increasingly eager to make itself known. As usual, you should expect your choices to change the story as you cajole, press, and outright terrify the other Fables into coughing up their secrets as you chase down the conspiracy. In Sheep's Clothing is free for Season Pass holders, but will otherwise cost the usual £2.99 / $4.99. It's available via and in-app purchase right now.…

Genre Busters: Our Top 4 Hackers (Twitch catch-up)

As part of our regular programming over on our Twitch channel, we look at some of the best games that we feel define a specific genre in Genre Busters. With Watch_Dogs dominating the multiplatform charts this week, we decided to focus on games which have you hacking, or indeed cracking, as an integral part of the game. A genre we call hackers, although our Twitch viewers have come penned an even better name for the genre - hacktastic games! We started the show with a quick demonstration of Watch_Dogs Companion: ctOS Mobile, which allows iPhone and iPad users to infiltrate their friends' games and send the feds after them. Uplay has been inundated with folks trying to play this mode, b…

Gameloft has just revealed its new Squad vs Squad multiplayer mode for upcomin shooter sequel Modern Combat 5: Blackout. Squad vs Squad is a new take on Modern Combat’s multiplayer, allowing you to form persistent teams with friends. Offering a similar experience to the standard multiplayer, you will still be able to take part in Capture the Flag, VIP, Free for All, and Team Battles. The difference is that you'll no longer be placed in random squads. Instead, you'll be able select your own teammates from your friends list, and cherry pick your perfect platoon of ultimate badasses. The various classes the game offers will allow for plenty of diversity between squads. This will l…

Fantastically frantic dodge’em-up Tilt to Live 2: Redonkulous is currently free on the App Store

Fantastically frantic dodge’em-up Tilt to Live 2: Redonkulous is currently free on the App Store

We adore developer One Man Left’s tilt based dodge’em-up Tilt to Live 2: Redonkulous. This makes us very happy to report that the game is currently free on the App Store. Tilt to Live 2: Redonkulous is to the twin-stick shooter genre what dodgems are to bumper cars. But, while shifting the action from hitting everything in sight to avoiding it may ruin the fairground attraction, in the palm of your hand it becomes something very special indeed. The responsive tilt based gameplay has you manipulating your device to weave through all manner of dangers in tight arenas. Constantly spawning enemies keep you under pressure as the screen quickly begins to fill with death. Coll…

iON Bond Review

Review Inez Hogarth By Alex Beech, 9 years, 11 months ago
iON Bond Review

The goal of iON Bond is to bring together pairs of coloured ions across black and white mazes. At its most simple, this involves tracing a line between positively and negatively charged spheres. Once connected, the respective charges - positive or negative - take effect, and they are either repulsed or attracted. Successfully fuse all the ions onscreen, and you're on to the next level. It doesn’t take long for iON Bond to pile on more complex elements. The first big change comes…

Pixeljam updates Glorkian Warrior: Trials of Glork with tilt controls and GameCenter achievements

Glorkian Warrior: Trials of Glork has been updated with a brand new tilt control scheme, rounding out an already sizeable range of control choices. Pixeljam also took the liberty of adding GameCenter achievements, which should please Glorkian Warriors looking to show off their skills, or those simply looking for more meaningful progression. The game has been localized in Italian, French, Spanish, and German as part of this update. We were quite taken with Glorkian Warrior: Trials of Glork, giving it four stars. At review, we said "It is okay to judge Glorkian Warrior: Trials Of Glork by its appearance - this is a solid shooter elevated above the competition by its comic presentati…

Hyper Square Review

Hyper Square Review

Remember those shape sorter toys you had as a kid? The ones where you had to squeeze shaped blocks through similarly-shaped holes? Hyper Square is essentially an amped-up, caffiene addled version of the same toy. Instead of manipulating wooden shapes, however, you're swiping, re-sizing, and spinnimh digital squares into virtual targets. These mechanics are introduced one at a time. First, the game asks you to simply drag or fling squares towards their goal with the swipe of a fin…

Hands-on with Circix, the head-scratching, line-drawing neon puzzler

Hands-on with Circix, the head-scratching, line-drawing neon puzzler

You might not see it at the top of the App Store charts any time soon. Its basic visuals and sound may dissuade you from downloading it. But don't be fooled by Circix's unassuming nature: this puzzler is just as addictive as the best of them. The idea of the game is to connect the squares on the field with one another, creating enough connections to match the number on each of the squares. Sounds easy, and it is to begin with, but hit the harder levels and it becomes a mind-bending nightmare. Check out our Circix hands-on below.…

Magnet puzzler iON Bond will be attracting people to the App Store at midnight

Magnet puzzler iON Bond will be attracting people to the App Store at midnight

While there are a fair number of physics puzzlers on the App Store, few blend colour matching with magnetic mechanics. Developer Stewart Hogarth has done exactly this, however, with his new puzzler iON Bond. The principles of iON Bond’s puzzles are remarkably simple. The goal of each level is to attract disks of the same colour together. In isolation, however, none of the disks have any locomotion of their own. Luckily, the tiny circles can be positively or negatively charged. Their polarity allows you to pull them together or push them apart like magnets, enabling you to navigate your way around each puzzle. Featuring 70 levels, and a secret game mode that unlocks…

Watch_Dogs Multiplayer: iPhone vs PC

Watch_Dogs Multiplayer: iPhone vs PC

As you may have heard, Ubisoft's much anticipated free-roaming hackathon Watch_Dogs landed on consoles and PCs everywhere yesterday. Not to leave the iOS crowd out in the cold, the devs accompanied the release of Watch_Dogs with an iOS (and Android) companion app, catchily titled Watch_Dogs Companion: ctOS Mobile.  Rather than just letting you browse your inventory or peer at a map while on the bus (like most companion apps), this nifty addition to the Watch_Dogs universe allows you to compete head-to-head with console and PC players in a cross-platform game of cops and robbers. The player with the mobile app assumes controls of the city's police force and security systems, and must…

Dragon Quest VIII hits the New Zealand App Store with a hefty price tag

Ever since we saw Square Enix's Dragon Quest VIII appear on iOS via the Japanese App Store, we've been hoping it would come to the West. Now it looks like English speakers will now be able to step back into the shoes of the typically silent protagonist in his fight against the wicked Dhoulmagus, as the iOS port has just been spotted on the New Zealand App Store, meaning a wider release is likely imminent. If you've yet to experience the joys of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King - it's one of my personal favourite RPGs of all time - then this might be a good opportunity to do so. You explore a huge, bright, colourful 3D world filled with adorable monsters, engaging in turn…

Tackle Le Mans in the latest Real Racing 3 update

Real Racing 3 now lets you tackle the ultimate test of motor racing endurance in its latest Le Mans update. Giving you access to the track made famous by the 24 hours prototype race, this new mode throws up plenty of challenges for you to conquer on the road to becoming the Le Mans champion. Of course, while Le Mans is famous for its 24 hour endurance race, the game won’t expect your battery to last for a full day. Instead, you can challenge next generation prototypes like the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro and Toyota's TS040 Hybrid in shorter races which let you cruise around the circuit as the sun goes down. On the social side, four players can now compete together split-screen using b…
