I was meant to preview Rhythm Thief & the Paris Caper yesterday. I was looking forward to it, too, as the 3DS game it's based on, Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure, is a quirky, entertaining serving of dance-based larks. However, once I'd hooked up my video capture device and cleared the game's tutorial, I found myself trapped in a weird update loop. Worms 3 gets physical with updated controller support
Q: How many worms does it take to update a popular multiplayer strategy sequel? A: None - they have to get a human to do it, because worms are terrible at coding and can't use keyboards properly and are worms. Objectively hilarious jokes aside, though, Worms 3 has actually been updated (by humans) to address some shortcoming highlighted by fans of the game. Developer Black Wing Foundation is preparing for weird out iOS gamers with its incoming episodic psyschological thriller In Fear I Trust. We got our first glimpse of this horror-inflected adventure last year when the team posted a short video showing the intro to the first episode. It was all about this policeman who lost some of his man bits in a harrowing paperwork accident, and had to be fused with the office photocopier at a molecular genetic level so that he could carry on with his filing. What would you get if the took the rotatable 3D artifacts found in Zen Bound, and combined them with the twisty-turny mechanisms at the heart of The Room? The iOS version of Joe Danger is a cracking little stunt racer, and a prime example of how to successfully adapt a console game for a touchscreen device. Joe Danger Infinity, which is due to hit US and UK App Stores tonight, keeps its predecessor's acclaimed controls and physics intact, but shrinks Joe down to miniature proportions. Now roughly the size of a salt shaker, Joe has to perform his extensive array of jumps and stunts on the top of kitchen surfaces and pool tables. He has 96 new races to tackle, and 15 vehicles to collect, including a firework and a specially modified duck. Though better known for creating the Unity engine, the company behind the game development tool is about to publish its very first game on the App Store. Titled Archangel, the game is to be released under the Unity Games banner at midnight tonight. It has been created by first time developer Black Tower, and is set to bring a healthy dose to tap-based dungeon-crawling action to your touchscreen. First-person zombie shooter World War Z has just gone free on the App Store. What's more, it looks like the price drop is permanent, and will change the mechanics of the movie tie-in for current owners. World War Z's apparent shift to the free-to-play model comes as part of the latest update. As well as alerting us to the price drop, the changelog on the game's App Store listing contains this disclaimer for anyone who has already purchased the shooter with real money: "For users who have previously purchased the game, you will notice that ammo is more scarce, but if you are careful you'll still be able to make it through the game." After a lengthy soft launch on the Canadian App Store, it seems that free-to-play peddler Glu Games is preparing to release its movie tie-in shooter RoboCop onto iOS devices worldwide.
