NarcoGuerra

Gamethenews, the company that tried to bring Endgame: Syria to the App Store and had to settle for Endgame: Eurasia, has now created a game based on the US War on Drugs and the Mexican drug cartels in their new game NarcoGuerra. It's essentially the game of Risk, which raises the interesting notion of using tried and true game mechanics to tackle more serious and pertinent issues. Have a look at the trailer for a little more understanding. The game is out now for the price of $0.99.[App Store Link]…

The Executive

From the developer behind Pizza vs Skeletons comes a beat em up in the boardroom. The Executive has you defending your company against werewolves, and as this teaser trailer will show you, the game has an interesting visual style and some slick animation. The game is not slated for release till next year, so while it seems a bit cruel that we'll have to wait, we at least know a little of what to expect when it finally arrives.[Source - Toucharcade]…

The Middle of the Curiosity Cube has been Breached!

The Middle of the Curiosity Cube has been Breached!

Six months after the release of Curiosity, not only has the middle of the cube been breached, we also know what is inside. For those of you unfamiliar, Curiosity was an experimental app where you could tap on the side of a cube to uncover the layer beneath. You could also buy special tools through IAP to increase your cube breaking prowess, but the idea was that sooner or later through the combined effort of all the players, one person would reach the center... and what was there was for them, and them alone. So here's a video of Peter Molyneux explaining what was in the center of the cube (as the winner, Bryan Henderson was ok with the secret being shared with the world). Some…

Ace Attorney HD collection arrives next week

After a lot of conjecture and several conflicting statements, Capcom has finally produced concrete evidence that Phoenix Wright combo app Ace Attorney HD is to appear on the App Store next week. This remastered iOS collection features the first three games in the judicial series (Phoenix Wright, Justice for All, and Trials and Tribulations), all of which initially appeared on Nintendo DS. The series focuses on upstart lawyer Phoenix Wright as he tries to solve a string of grisly murders. It's up to you to pick through the evidence and interrogate witnesses in order to secure your client's freedom. As this is a remastered edition, fans can also look forward to some new game modes, and the…

Exzeus 2

Exzeus 2

The first Exzeus was released in 2009, and was primarily an on-rails shooter, along the lines of a Sin and Punishment or Space Harrier. Now in 2013 developers Hyperdexbox Japan are releasing the sequel. It looks to keep the on-rails gameplay, while adding a third person shooter beat-em-up aspect to the mix. Have a look at this preview video! There is no definitive release date aside from "very soon" so we'll keep a watch out, and certainly review the title once its released. Here's hoping that it controls as well as it looks fun to play!…

Mansion Run is a Multi-leveled Endless Runner

Mansion Run is a Multi-leveled Endless Runner

Bones Wellington is enjoying his wine and fire, when he realises he has a ghost infestation. What is a man named Bones Wellington to do? Well in most endless runners he'd be jumping gaps, but in Mansion Run he's cycling throught the many floors of his house. Have a look at the trailer. While it doesn't look too different than most endless runners, fans of the genre will certainly enjoy the small change up, and charming 8-bit presentation. The game is due out on the App Store on May 30th for the price of $0.99.…

Fire & Forget The Final Assault Review

Review Microids By Dave Flodine, 10 years, 10 months ago
Fire & Forget The Final Assault Review

The original Fire & Forget was released on the Amiga in the late 80s. It took the 'at the time' visual fidelity and engagement of a racing game like Outrun, and added shooting. This obviously paid off as not only was there a sequel, but now Microids have rebooted the franchise on iOS with Fire & Forget: The Final Assault. You drive the 'Thunder Master III', a speedy tank chock full of fire-power... that also possesses the ability to fly! You'll need it if you're going to protec…

They Need To Be Fed 2 Review

They Need To Be Fed 2 Review

There's something to be said for minimalism done right. If you can take a striking visual style and boil it down to simple elements, what you end up with can be iconic, easy to read, and enjoyable. It also doesn't hurt to approach platforming gameplay with the same focus, because you end up with a game like They Need to be Fed 2. The goal of each level is to feed the hungry plant at the end. You yourself are its meal so of course you want to get to it as fast and intact as possible. T…

Bloom Box is not What you Expect

Bloom Box is not What you Expect

...and the reason for this is mainly due to a misreading on my part. I moved the L to the second word, and thought that the Wii physics game Boom Blox was on its way to the App Store (cause you gotta admit, it would translate really well to the iOS platform). But after my initial confusion, what I found was an interesting little chain reaction puzzle game in which you have to shoot projectiles to free trapped flowers inside boxes. As a fan of puzzle games, and those that contain chain reactions, my interest was piqued. Have a look at the trailer and see what you think. It looks to be released before the end of the month.…

Can Knockdown 3 Review

Can Knockdown 3 Review

You know, sometimes a lot of the gaming ideas on the App Store are akin to walking down the aisles of a carnival sideshow, where all these fun little tests of skill are awaiting you; some that are primed to be more fair than others. This comparison is being used here because Can Knockdown 3 is exactly what it sounds like; the third game in a series where you throw baseballs at cans in order to knock them down. It's like having the carnival in the palm of your hand! Really the game is…

Manuganu Review

Review ALPER SARIKAYA By Dave Flodine, 10 years, 10 months ago
Manuganu Review

There seems to be a distinct lack of caveman platformers out in the gaming world. Besides Joe and Mac, and the Flintstones game, I can't think of any, and those were over twenty years ago. Well, developer Alper Sarikaya has answered the call with Manuganu, a game that takes a few queues from endless runners, a few queues from Bit.Trip Runner 2, and whips them together into something simplistic, yet highly enjoyable. The goal of each stage is to get to the end, as obvious as that sound…

App Wrap Up (Week Ending 17th May, 2013) - iPad Edition

Hey hey readers! It's Friday, and that means it's time for another App Wrap Up! I don't have too many iPhone selections for you this week, so I thought i'd dip into the well, and once again focus this article on iPad releases. As always, I will show you a bunch of trailers, comment on them, and if you like what you see, you can follow the link and grab the game for yourselves. Let's get started!   Gigabattle (Mego Ltda.) All the cats of Earth have been abducted to create a giant hairball super weapon. Odd to say the least. This looks like sort of a reverse shmup mixed with a bit of real time strategy. Unique and odd enough to warrant a look i'd wager.[App Store Link]   Monst…

Frozen Synapse iPad Review

What is a gamer ideally looking for when they're in the market for a strategy game? Are they looking for a lengthy campaign complete with engaging narrative? Angry Birds film on the way in 2016

Angry Birds the Movie is on the way. Yeah, you read that right. A feature length, animated movie starring everyone's favourite mute avians is set to hit cinemas in 2016, after Sony bought the rights to Rovio's bird flinging mobile games. According to Gamespot, Iron Man producer David Maisel is attached to the film as executive producer, and John Cohen, whose credits include Despicable Me, is on board as a producer. Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton had the following to say about the deal: "We're thrilled to be distributing this film and we hope this is just the beginning of what will be a long relationship with Rovio as we look for ways to work on future projects together." So it looks li…
