Unknown Orbit Spiraling in Early December

Releasing on December 4th for the price of $0.99, Unknown Orbit strikes me as a relaxing take on a three dimensional Tiny Wings. Of course the goals of the game, and mechanics might be quite different, but have a look at the trailer, and you'll see what I mean. We'll be looking forward to giving this a try when it releases.…

Yingpei Games releases more details about Mercenary Ops

Yingpei Games, formerly known as Epic China, has release some more details about their upcoming Unreal powered FPS Mercenary Ops. The game, which looks to borrow more than a little from Resident Evil 4, offers 8 single player levels and 3 giant boss fights to blast your way through using innovative single finger controls. As you can see from the screenshots, Mercenary Ops is certainly looking impressive, and promises plenty of unholy beasts for you to blast into pieces. The game should be out sometime in the next month, meaning we might get to kill some zombies while enjoying Christmas dinner. If you want to know more, head over to the game's Facebook page for some more screenshots and…

Thankfully this has now been rectified and you can check out the videos for FreeSkate Xtreme, Wraithborne, Storm The Train, Negative Nimbus, and Super Tiny Leap right now!…

FreeSkate Xtreme Review

The tag line for Freeskate Xtreme on the App Store touts a "Kinect-like experience on ios devices". That's partially true. This is an inline skating game wrapped in cel shaded visuals meant to evoke memories of Jet Set Radio, which is a much better inline skating game. It's not to be unkind, but the biggest selling point here, the Kinect-like experience (which utilizes the iPhone's head tracking software), is what brings the game from an average yet somewhat enjoyable experience crashi…

Super Tiny Leap Review

Super Tiny Leap Review

One thing that's been great about the success of the App Store has been all the simple yet addictive high score arcade titles that developers have been experimenting with. For a gamer in his 30s like myself, it reflects a simpler time when these games ruled the arcades, and had players vying for position on those hallowed leaderboards. Super Tiny Leap takes this idea, an old school aesthetic, and turns it towards the vertical climbing genre that Doodle Jump popularized all those years…

Blade Lords brings F2P slashing to iOS

Soul Calibur style free to play slasher Blade Lords has gone into beta in Canada and Singapore, which usually means that a worldwide iOS release isn't too far behind. The game, which is set in feudal Japan, is all about proving you're the greatest swordsman in the world, and taking on all comers with your trusty blade to prove it. The game uses the Unreal Engine to power its 3D on a 2D plane battles, and features a simple play style that should appeal to newcomers, while offering enough depth for fighting fans to really get their teeth into. Right now it looks like Blade Lords is iPad only, but that might change once it's given a full release. If your interest has been piqued, check out…

Negative Nimbus Review

Negative Nimbus Review

Negative Nimbus gives you a unique way to approach thinking about rain clouds. They can't help blanketing the land and its denizens below with a thick pelt of water, and even though they may try their hardest to stop raining on everyone's parade, their strength can only take so much strain. The problem is that this lack of self control spreads negativity, and its no wonder this nimbus is so darn miserable. Tapping on the screen as your sad little rain cloud floats along will cause str…

Dragon Slayer coming soon to iOS

Dragon Slayer coming soon to iOS

Glu Mobile has released a trailer for its upcoming cross between Monster Hunter and Infinity Blade for iOS and Android devices, Dragon Slayer. The game sees you playing a battle wizard who takes on a series of increasingly enormous flying lizards in daring one on one battles. Cue lots of magic spells and probably quite a lot of getting eaten too. Scheduled for release this week sometime, the game will be available on iOS and Android devices for the princely sum of nothing at all. We've embedded the trailer below so you can get an idea as to the size of the opponents you're going to be facing when the games hits the App Store and the Google Play Store in the not too distant future.…

Race of Champions World... of Champions?

On the 21st of November a new racer emerges on the app store. Race of Champions World. The developer, Invictus Games have dropped their first teaser video so we thought we'd share. It looks to have fantastic graphics, but of course the important thing is how it plays. We'll find out before the end of the month.…

Ninja Joe

Not just an average joe, but a Ninja Joe. Releasing on November 23rd, this platformer uses swiping to jump and move through the air like a ninja. Have a look at the trailer to get a better idea of what I mean. Now games that use swipes to jump often suffer from a lack of precision in the controls. We'll have to wait and see on this one.…

Shadowgun Deadzone explodes onto iOS devices

Madfinger's multiplayer only follow up to their Gears of War style third person shooter has landed on iOS and Android devices, and it's looking mighty fine. The game, which is free to play, sees you blasting it out against friends and foes in a series of arenas, using guns with names like Big Boy, Mace, and S**tStorm to slay your opponents. Deadzone is free to play, and you can spend cash on lumps of gold that'll help you get the better weapons quicker. With ten playable characters, two multiplayer modes, and up to twelve players online at once, the game is set to bring console style multiplayer mayhem to smaller screens. The game is available from the App Store and the Google Play Stor…

To Dream of Dragons

Roger Dean's Dragon Dream will be released on Sunday the 18th of November. Roger Dean is best know for album covers from such bands as Yes, and Asia, as well as designing the logo for UK based Videogame company Psygnosis. Now it seems he turns his talents towards videogame design, and at least on a presentation level, this game looks simply gorgeous. Let us hope it plays as well as it looks. Here's the trailer.…
