Gameloft porting 12 titles to Windows Phone 8

Gameloft has announced that it's hard at work on porting 12 of its most popular iOS and Android games on to Microsoft's recently released Windows 8 Platform. There's no firm release date for the titles yet, just a vague 2012/2013, but they're a mixed bag of casual and hardcore games that should appeal to a broad spectrum of gamers. Most excitingly for Windows Phone 8 players Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, the upcoming installment in Gameloft's CoD aping military shooter series is making the shift in the not too distant future. There's also the dynamic duo of superhero movie tie-ins The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises, and sci-fi FPS epic N.O.V.A 3. You can check out all of the…

Lotsa Blocks Review

The physics block stacking game is an established mobile genre. Even more than that, giving the blocks (or whatever you happen to be balancing) personalities isn't anything new either. None of this is a problem if you can deliver the content in an interesting and entertaining way. Does Lotsa Blocks accomplish this? Let's find out. The goal in adventure mode is to stack blocks on the teetering balance beam to reach the finish line placed somewhere above. Before dragging the blocks from…

Halloween iOS Bonanza Part 2 - More Tricks And Treats To Enjoy!

There are many reasons to enjoy the holiday seasons, but being able to grab a fistful of excellent titles at bargain prices and enjoying copious amounts of free content certainly helps. So we're back again with more news of publishers and developers alike going crazy thanks to the pumpkin-fueled period that is the end of October! Dead Trigger Halloween Update We didn't make any bones about how dissapointed we were at the release content for MADFINGER's zombie shoot'em-up Dead Trigger, but true to their word the game is constantly being updated, making it a bargain at the generous entry price of 'free'. Of course their Halloween update has just gone live, pushing out additional optimizati…

Polyroll Review

Polyroll is a platformer that takes more than a little inspiration from the original Sonic the Hedgehog game. The evil Kaiser Kiwi has captured Polyroll's friends, and through rolling, jumping, collecting gems, and power-ups, it's up to you as the player to save them (There is ambiguity here as I am not really sure exactly what kind of creature Polyroll is meant to be). Graphically a lot of the game suffers from this issue. The sprite art is pretty competent and varied, and looks like…

Frankenstorm Looms Over AppSpy

Due to the insane weather on the East Coast of the United States and the close proximity of our servers to said area, there's a likely chance that the site will experience hiccups. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we know the techies are hard at work keeping everything up, so feel free to show them some love (if/when the comments behave!)…

Enter the Monochrome Lair of the Minotaur

Described as a cross between Ikaruga and Tilt to Live, Minotaur is looking like a fast paced, engaging high score game that's arriving just in time for Halloween on October 31st. I could explain more, but i'll let the trailer do the talking. Definitely looks worth checking out though.…

Girls Like Robots Review

Girls Like Robots Review

Girls like Robots, published by Adult Swim is the most charming and entertaining seating arrangement simulator on the App Store. Now before you all run away out of boredom, let's clarify that. Yes the core mechanic of the game is to find the optimal seating arrangement between a collection of colorful characters that either love or loathe each other, but it's through the characters themselves, and how the game keeps unrolling new situations that makes this a puzzle game that's certainl…

Novelty is in the eye of the Beholder

Novelty is in the eye of the Beholder

First watch the trailer... What a novel concept. Instead of utilizing touch and gesture based input, Eyesfire makes use of the face recognition software in the iPhone. Now from a gameplay standpoint, finding an optimum area to place your phone, and moving your head around might be problematic (as well as firing a gun by blinking, which means you have to stop looking at the screen, as fast as the process may be). Still, we give credit to such intriguing game concepts, as it's thinking outside the box that can lead to something special, even if it takes more than a few iterations to get there.[App Store Link]…

It's a Trap!

It's a Trap!

Yes the meme is a bit cliche now, but be honest, you all heard the voice in your heads, didn't you. Anyways, Trap Mansion is getting released tomorrow on the 30th, and while we all know about the survival horror genre, we've seen far less games in the survival genre, which this looks to be part of. It looks to have a quirky sense of humour and style, and as long as the controls for shuffling your character through this mansion of doom work well, this could be a blast. More can be found in the trailer!…

Square Enix set to drop their prices?

Square Enix set to drop their prices?

It looks like there might be some wriggle room in Square Enix's often derided pricing structure. The Japanese power house's head of mobile for Europe, Antony Douglas, had some interesting things to say on the subject at the recent Casual Connect conference in Kiev. “$20 for something you can play for 30 or 40 hours is still cheaper than what you can get on a handheld.  [Square Enix] Japan are trying that and seeing how it works, and it works very well in Japan." "It has been commented on quite a lot in Europe in the West, [and] they’re responding to it.  They’re seeing the feedback, and there will probably be changes in the way that it’s structured.”…

MONOPOLY Millionaire Review

There's a lot to be said for the mobile versions of Monopoly that EA have released over the years. In my experience, no game is responsible for causing more arguments amongst friends (maybe Mario Kart), so it's nice to be able to enjoy such a well designed take on capitalism playing against computer controlled opponents. For those of you who don't have a problem playing with friends, there's always that option too, and plenty of tweaks to create the type of game you want to play. So t…

Devil's Attorney Review

When we think of turn based RPG combat, our minds turn to the genres of fantasy and science-fiction. I mean every now and then, you get something like Earthbound, but for the most part, the RPG genre is locked into preconceived notions of what to expect. Then along comes Devil's Attorney, which takes turn based combat, and puts it into a courtroom, where you control the scumbag lawyer Max McMann, using every dirty trick in his arsenal to free your clients from the prosecution, and all…

Dead Triggers gets new level for Halloween

Dead Triggers gets new level for Halloween

Madfinger's violent zombie slaughtering FPS is set to receive a spooky update to celebrate that most terrifying of all commercialised holidays, Halloween. The new update, which is already available on the Google Play Store, adds a new graveyard level to the game, as well as plenty of pumpkin-headed undead for you to murder in various ways. There's a new weapon to aid you in your undead massacre as well, a crossbow that fires incendiary bolts that spread fire, death, and mayhem wherever they land. iOS owners should be getting the update pretty soon, and anyone with a Android device powerful enough to run the game should have it already. To whet your appetite in the meantime, here's a spook…

Halloween iOS Bonanza

It's the time of year where countries around the world get used to the aroma of pumpkin and spices in the air - not that I'm complaining personally because I love me some seasonal treaties, but it's nice to think we can enjoy more than just food and candy this year. As such I've collected news on a bunch of great seaonal themed updates and special deals that you can jump in on to provide you with a great distraction for the next couple weeks, or if you want to horde them, to survive the Thanksgiving season. Mikey Shorts Halloween - A Free Seasonal Taster Instead of simply changing the aesthetics of their smash hit game Mikey Shorts, Beaver Tap Games have opted to go one better, creating a…
