Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Now Just 99c For A Limited Time

Square Enix's iPhone port of Xbox Live Arcade title Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is now on sale, meaning you can grab the co-operative adventure game for just 99c. Naturally, the game follows Tomb Raider protagonist Lara Croft - and her new partner Totec - as she attempts to nab a mysterious artefact called the Mirror of Smoke, and prevent the God of Darkness from controlling humanity. We gave Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light an impressive 4/5 at review and noted that it "goes the extra distance with a challenging campaign and a fun co-op style for friends to enjoy". Lara's adventure will return to $2.99 on November 14th, so we suggest you go and raid the App Store for it whil…

Review Updates: Kard Combat, Flip Riders, Muffin Knight and Dungeon Defenders

One of the wonderful things about the App Store is that it provides an opportunity for developers to refine their games as time goes on, often to the point of a game hardly resembling what was released in the first place. As such we've had a look at the following titles and we've given them the nudge they deserve as they remain relevant thanks to listening to their respective communities. (Some of the reviews are taking their sweet time to update correctly - they have been edited, please be patient!) Kard Combat (Hothead Games) One of the major weaknesses of Kard Combat when it was released was its lack of customization - something further exascerbated by only having a handful of mages to…

Chicken Rescue Review

The chickens have come home to roost. That's if you're successful of course. It can be a long arduous journey for a hen to find her chicks and lead them back to their home safely. Especially when everything in the world is seemingly made of rubber and one wrong step can bounce you into oblivion. Chicken rescue to controlled by tilting. Find a comfortable angle, calibrate, and then tilt to move the hen in that direction. The goal of each level is to find the chicks and return them to t…

Junk Jack Review

There's a sort of epiphany, a miniature moment of enlightenment if you will, that comes from a lifetime of playing video games. It can come even earlier than this, but you start to see the vast reams of games you've played as a rainbow of genres, each one blurring seamlessly in to the next with some becoming the strongest example of a specific moment. If you've not played the free-form exploration title Minecraft you've done yourself a disservice; while I personally dipped in and out…

Sad Robot Review

Sad Robot Review

One gets the feeling upon playing Sad Robot that it was created all around the premise of the catchy theme song that plays during the game. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, it might excuse some of the more questionable parts of this experience. Let us explore further. You control a robot flying through space. You collect coins, avoid obstacles, and sometimes you can gain a power-up to aid you. The coins can be used to purchase new robots, upgrade the power-ups and buy items…

Zen Warrior Review

Zen Warrior Review

Players tend to expect a lot from fighting games. An eclectic cast of characters with interesting move-sets, good balance in pairings, and a variety of interesting locations to spar in. Zen Warrior gets the last one right but falls a little short in other respects. You play as Kuma, a karate fighter looking to discover himself and further the study of his art. In stage after stage you take on different fighters in a 'best out of three matches' scenario before moving onto the next. The…

Cosmic Cab Review

Being a cab driver has its share of nightmares, but as bad as a city or high population area might be, it pales in comparison to the intergalactic cab circuit. And that's exactly where you make your living in Cosmic Cab. Can you get you passengers where they're going as fast as possible, while supplementing your income along the way by collecting all the precious anti-matter? More Order & Chaos Online Accounts Have Been Hacked

You thought you could breathe a huge Order & Chaos Online sigh of relief, didn't you? Unfortunately not. After reporting on the first Gameloft Live security breach a few weeks ago, which involved hackers gaining access to Order & Chaos Online players' accounts, we told you we'd keep you updated on events relating to the French studio's iPhone MMORPG. And so we are. In spite of Gameloft's best attempts at plugging the Order & Chaos Online security holes, a raft of gamers - some of whom were affected in October, some of whom were not - have had their accounts hacked over the weekend. If that wasn't enough bad news for the Order & Chaos Online masses, reports are surfacing…

Oh! Edo Towns Review

I guess this was sort of inevitable - no I don't mean Kairosoft releasing a new game, but rather a game from Kairosoft that touches (if only tangentially) on actual city management games like Sim City. Any real similarity between the classic Sim game and Oh! Edo Towns is only minor, so what does the latest game from the Japanese powerhouse developer have to offer? If you've delved in to their previous games of Hot Springs Story and High School Story you'll get a good sense of deja vu…

Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls Review

I'm prepared to be lynched by the mob, but first hear me out: While I was never a personal fan of the first-person RPG while growing up (even despite some amazing examples of the genre on the Commodore Amiga, I get what makes them so appealing - I love the challenge of overcoming my ignorance and mastering an otherwise puzzling system of gameplay. Unfortunately for Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls this is 2011 and we have better ways to remove 'hand holding' without making a player fee…

Super Stickman Golf Goes Free For 24 Hours On iPhone

Super Stickman Golf may have been put off its game slightly by a trademark troll earlier in the year, yet it remains a phenomenally enjoyable iPhone experience. This inventive trajectory-based puzzler from Noodlecake pitched up on AppSpy's green a little under a year ago and received full marks from Andrew on review. The effortlessly simple control method complements the cleverly designed levels rather nicely, while the online multiplayer mode is a genuine treat. So long as you have three mates who own the game, of course. Whether you're a Billy No-Mates of Mr Popular, mind, news that Super Stickman Golf is going free for a day should be music to your ears. 261 holes and Retina display…
