iOS Slayer Vampire Rush On Sale At 99c

The wind whispers his name, villages hum with the trail of his wake, and vampires from American high schools to Transylvania tremble at the very thought of... Greg. Rubbishy - or possibly ironic - name aside, the protagonist of Chillingo's tactical Dracula destroyer Vampire Rush on iOS is back and on sale at 99c for a limited time. In essence, it's a mixture of upgrade-based tactical defence and up-close-and-bloody button-smashing, halting wave after wave of horrific fang barons from escaping into the overworld. If that combination makes you thirsty for blood and downloads, you can quench yourself by purchasing Vampire Rush from the App Store yesterday.…

Evil Dead Shooter Decomposing Its Way Onto iOS

Fans of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead movie trilogy can ogle some shiny new images from the soon-to-be-arriving movie spin-off iOS game. Players can take on the role of Ashley J. "Ash" Williams, as he mutilates his way through hordes of Deadites, rescues his friends, and takes down bosses. All this with his trademark boomsticks, axes, and chainsaws in tow. As you can see in the screenshots, the game has a distinctly chibi style with super deformed characters sporting massive cartoon noggins as they dish out mass zomicide. Early reports indicate that while the game follows the same storyline as the movies, there are other plotlines involved to keep things interesting. You'll be able to play throu…

Prince Penny Review

How can a King remain a King if his kingdom is entirely destitute? Easy! Just wait for flying lion-bird's to poop out coins all over your kingdom and collect the gold for insant profit. This does assume you're living in the world of Prince Penny by developer Lionbird, but it scores points for originality if nothing else. One of the upsides of having so many endless titles cluttering up the App Store is the chance for something fun and bizarre to make its way to the top of the pack, gi…

Max Damage Is Jenga With A Gun

Sometimes, games don't have to be about saving the world, collecting trophies, or even managing a football team. Sometimes, we all like to settle back with a hand cannon and watch things burn. In Max Damage, Dundee-based developer Digital Goldfish is going to give us another excuse to cause wanton destruction all over our iOS systems. With an array of cannons on offer such as lasers, machine guns and TNT launchers players will have to cause, well, Maximum Damage, through various colourful cartoon block filled stages. Similar to other physics-based puzzlers like Angry Birds and Fragger players can rate themselves via a three star ranking system through 50 levels of playful block genocide.…

Two Extra Levels Bolster Siege Hero's Battlement

Not two weeks after its release, Armor Games's physics-based puzzler Siege Hero has only gone and got itself an update. But what could possibly have been updated so soon? Well, for one thing, the difficulty curve has been smoothened somewhat - good news for noobs. For two things, a couple of extra levels have been included in Treasure Map mode. If you're a bit greedy and that's still not enough for you, then consider this... Scores for the Treasure Map now contribute to the overall Fortress Age tally. A Total Score leaderboard, therefore, has been introduced by Armor Games for you to gauge how much of a destructive menace you truly are. Siego Hero is available at a special introductory…

Storm in a Teacup Review

Although we've seen attempts at it before, Storm in a Teacup by Chillingo and Cobra Mobile is perhaps the first game to truly capture the feel of Little Big Planet on the App Store in a meaningful way. Whether this was the game's intention or not, this little platformer takes you through a variety of worlds while testing your skill at mastering its quirky physics and mini-games you'd not ordinarily expect from this sort of title. At first the game presents itself as a fairly standard…

Bug Chucker Review

While it's no real defense, being original can be difficult, so sometimes it's best to embrace what you are and simply come up with something interesting. Bug Chucker by Cyan Worlds may take its inspirations from App Store classics, but the overall result is something far more intricate and complex, making it a difficult game to compare. Many players will be familiar with the basic setup as you fling objects with a cannon in an attempt to blow up enemies on the screen. Instead of Eart…

First Touch Soccer Updated To Universal Build

While the identity of the Premier League footballer purported to have shared relations with E-lister Imogen Thomas remains a mystery to all*, there's no secret whatsoever to First Touch Soccer's success. Exient's franchise reboot stepped onto the iPhone turf barely a week ago, and impressed Andrew from kick-off to the final whistle, netting a fabulous 5 out of 5 rating. But like any good management team, Exient haven’t rested on their laurels during the post-season, for they've already refreshed their First Touch Soccer squad via an update. The biggest addition to the First Touch Soccer team is unquestionably the universal build feature, meaning that iPad players can enjoy an experi…

Hot To-Fu To Be Poured On iPhone At End Of May

Editors Note: Originally posted by Michael McNally - technical issues required it to be reposted. Sorry for the confusion! London-based games tinkerers HotGen have announced that their action-puzzler To-Fu: The Trials of Chi will boing onto the App store before the month is out. The game's putty-like protagonist, To-Fu, is pinged from platform to platform by your finger across 100 levels, all in the name of collecting orbs. And at heart, To-Fu's an affable chap: cuddly, at a stretch. (Boom boom.) This cuddliness is in stark contrast to the game's levels, which have more buzzsaws and spike-shaped hazards than the Saw boxset. Have a spy at the To-Fu: The Trials of Chi snaps below to give…

Stay With Me Review

I love a good horror now and then, but after a while the tropes become mundane and the spark of dread that helps to keep you in the moment fades away. Although Japanese horror has been spooking genre fans for a while it's hard not to still be affected by the creepiness of an unstoppable horror and I Found You by althi does a great job of making you want to put your iDevice down while you go turn the lights back on. You and your friends, in what can only be considered a fit of insanity…

Pix'n Love Rush Updated With Extra Mode

Pix'n Love Rush had us purring with nostalgic delight back in July 2010, thanks to its retro feel and banquet of available achievements. Well, Pastagames and Bulkypix's pretty platformer leaps back into our consciousness with a welcome update. In the newly released version 3.0, you can tackle a so-called hardcore mode called 'Rainbow Rush', which tests your survival skills to the limit. Hopefully, this additional gameplay mode will entertain us long into 2011, yet even if it doesn't quite manage that, who cares: It's free! And we all know what the best things in life are, don't we. (Stop that sniggering at the front.)…

Monster Hunter Dynamic Hunting Prowls The iPhone

Japanese publication Andriasang has revealed that Capcom's PSP hit Monster Hunter Dynamic Hunting will be battling onto iPhones in June. In this ultra-popular franchise, you engage in one-on-one fights with monsters from the series, evading and attacking by using a variety of sweaty-fingered moves. As expected, you move by sliding a digit in that direction. In addition, you have the ability to change items with the bottom-right icon, whereafter you can return to mashing the screen like some sugar-fuelled maniac. There'll be no need to envy the Japanese on this occasion, either. Capcom have revealed that Monster Hunter Dynamic Hunter will be a worldwide release. Check out the screenies b…

Simigo Set Bumpy Road's Wheels In Motion

Swedish two-man indie team Simogo made their debut on iPhone with the beautifully drawn arcader Kosmo Spin just before Christmas. Brilliantly for us – and indeed you - it’s only taken Simon and Magnus five months to follow that AppSpy 4* game up. Bumpy Road is described by its creators as a ‘love story on four wheels’, with the romantic leads played by an elderly couple in a vintage motor. By tapping on the touchscreen, you ‘bump’ the side-scrolling senior citizens over platforms, collecting bits and bobs along the voyage. Game Center leaderboards and achievements are integrated into Bumpy Road, while Retina display support delivers an extra visual sparkle to owners of an iPh…

CHAOS RINGS Ω Review

RPG fans are an odd bunch and many companies have recognized this, adopting the motto of, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' with gusto. While some publishers/developers should be applauded for trying to mix things up in order to penetrate the Western market, JRPGs are less prone to making wild new leaps. With this in mind it's no surprise that Chaos Rings Omega - the 'prequel' to the original Chaos Rings title from Square Enix - feels more like a story-based expansion than a full-fledg…
