Phoenix Wright for your iPhone? Heck yeah! In keeping up with adapting games for the App Store, CAPCOM have released their iconic adventure series to the iPhone, utilizing a modified version of the Nintendo DS release.
Much like the DS version, the game is touch driven through menus though some changes have occurred to make better use of the iPhone's limited screen space. Instead of simple select menus, most require you to hold your finger down to open up and scroll to the various options, which would be neat if it didn't also obscure the option you're trying to use. Once you're familiar with the icons you won't think twice, but it's an initial frustration that seems unnecessary.
Phoenix Wright makes use of basically animated 2D sprites that jump between various manga stylized expressions. As cases progress you'll get to see a gamut of wild looks, with the most hilarious ones generally occurring once you've pointed out a flaw in a witnesses testimony. Each case swings between court-room battles of logic and extended linear search-and-collect scenarios to flesh out the story while adding evidence to use in the next court-room battle.
It's unfortunate that most people excited about this great adventure series from CAPCOM will likely already own the game, but for those who haven't experienced the game's clever logical gameplay then this will be a treat. While this may not be the superior incarnation of this series, it's certainly cheaper than buying it on most other platforms.
