A Doodle Flight - Draw/Import your own plane! Review
- The game’s soundtrack is well done and fits into the bizarre art style.
- Easy to use and responsive controls.
- Great feature to draw and customise your own ship.
- The game’s crude art style can be distracting at times.
- Power-ups can be almost impossible to get.
This game is for those who appreciate a bizarre and quirky game. But besides that, the gameplay and the customization options will keep you coming back, even if it’s casually every now and then. This may be worth the current price depending on your love of Galaga style games.

A Doodle Flight is a top-down flight shooter which has players attacking a number of different enemies and obstacles. The draw of this game however, is that players are able to draw and create their own planes in the edit menu.
The game can be controlled three ways, tilting the iPhone to move your plane, dragging your finger to move the plane or a combination of the two. Players shoot automatically as well, meaning they are free to focus on movement and avoiding enemy attacks. There is a problem with the floating power-ups though, as they never quite make it close enough to you to collect.
The visual style is a little crude. The title screen alone is a prime example of this and gameplay itself can get somewhat distracting at times. However, it fits into the eclectic art style of the game. The sound is great as the game offers bouncy and fun music tracks. However, players cannot use their iPod music as an alternative, so they’ll have to like the tracks or turn off the sound.
A Doodle Flight is a game for fans of the top down flight shooter games such as Galaga. The simple gameplay and bizarre art style make the game a good casual play. However, there are certain issues that can make gameplay very frustrating, such as the almost uncollectible power-ups. However, if you’re after a surreal gaming experience, then look no further.
I really do like A Doodle Flight. It’s unique enough to grab me from the get go, but simple enough to keep me playing.
This game brings crazy cartoon character into a shooting frenzy and makes for some really fun times.
A Doodle Flight isn't just controlled by your hand - it's drawn by it, too. This cute take on the top-down shooter brings homespun style to decades-old gameplay.

The first thing you need to do is draw/import your plane. That’s right, you get to create what you’ll fly in to swoop down and destroy your enemy. Will you be the Red Baron? Maybe a P-51 is more your style. Most likely, your design will look a lot funnier than any plane you’ve ever seen.
This iPhone and iPod Touch app is a cute flight war game with hand drawings, which is why it is called, A Doodle Flight. Every time you eliminate an enemy, bubbles pop out to indicate that you’ve made a kill. It’s like fighting with a cartoon character.
To maneuver your aircraft, you have the option of using a tilt control, touch screen and tilt together, or just touch screen play.
Although it sounds very easy, you’ll find nine unique stages of challenge for you to complete with A Doodle Flight. There are ways to add to your arsenal as you go, so if you play your cards right, you may pick up some extra bullets or missiles to help prolong your life.
