Gem Spinner is a Bejeweled type puzzle game with a difference. While players need to match up three or more matching gems in a row, the board is separated into different blocks that can be moved and rotated. This gives players more options and freedom when it comes to lining up gems.

The controls are a little more complicated than other gem puzzle games but still pretty straightforward. You tap on two separate gems to swap them, double tap a board piece to rotate it 180 degrees and tap and slide to move the piece altogether. At first you might not swap or move pieces that much, but on harder levels it is a necessity.

The visuals look good and the gems are vibrantly coloured. The sound features a subtle mix of sound effects, but players are free to use their iPod during gameplay. The game features four difficulty modes, each with the option to submit highscores to the global leaderboards.

Gem Spinner is an interesting title that offers variation from the usual jewel spinning game formula. It may take time to fully grasp and utilize the control scheme, but after a few plays it will become second nature to you. There is a decent amount of content available and if you love other gem games like Bejeweled, then this will surely keep you entertained for hours to come.
