- Full Review
iTotem Idol is a physics based puzzle game where players must remove blocks from a small structure or tower without knocking off the small man on top. Your goal is to remove the specified amount of yellow blocks and as fast as you can without allowing your man to fall.
Players must tap on the yellow blocks to remove them from the game. It is up to you to make sure that you calculate your block removal, as structures that become unbalanced will topple. But don’t rely on the game to tell you any of this as there are no in-game instructions or help options available; leaving players to guess what to do the first time they play.
The presentation is quite soft and pleasant to look at but nothing stand-out. The game’s audio can be confusing as it contains a majority of soothing instrumentals and a few odd inclusions like Men at Work’s one hit wonder, Land Down Under. But players are free to use their iPod during gameplay if they so choose to. The game features one main game mode and features achievement access via OpenFeint.
iTotem Idol is an odd independent title that has some moderate gameplay but nothing amazing. The physics based block removal is good but it’s hard to find something really captivating here. And while there are new inclusions planned for the future, such as a custom builder mode, ultimately the game will fall short compared to the myriad of other physics based puzzle games available.
