Parachute Ninja delighted fans with its flicking off springs gameplay, but before the adventures of that stealthy ball, there was Wire Way. You play as Wiley, a cute little creature who is springing through levels to collect stars full of the precious energy Elan.
When Wiley is attached to a spring, pulling back will prime him for take off. A guide will show your arc and an indicator of your distance, but it's not foolproof. The goal is to reach the UFO at the end of each level, but there is much to explore, and puzzle pieces to collect as well as all the stars. Based on how well you do, a score will be awarded upon completion of the level.
A pixel art style has been used here, and while it's nothing special, the game is colourful, and it's easy to see what's going on. Sound and music is adequete and ipod support is enabled for those who wish to listen to their own music. Aside from the main campaign, there are two other challenge modes. In Flick Trials, the goal is to complete the level is as few flicks as possible, while Strategery mode has you placing springs and bumpers yourself to make it through. For those wanting even more, there are even more levels available via DLC.
Wire Way is a well made game with loads of content. Some of the level design is great but there seems to be that spark missing that can make some games truly enjoyable. Especially at the current price point, it's best to try the lite version and see if it clicks.

WireWay – unique gaming fun for iPhone and iPod touch!
Explore the world of Wiley, a lovable alien, and accompany him on his quest to find the precious source of energy called “Elan”. Use the innovative Touch controls to guide Wiley on his journey through 32 breath-taking stages and let him safely reach his goal. Using stretched wires, you move our hero through the levels. Jump from wire to wire, but look out for falling stones, eerie skulls or floors full of thorns. Collect as many Elan stars as possible in order to make Wiley jump even higher and farther by using super powers.
Two additional game modes provide variety and even more fun; In “Flick Trials”, reach your goal with the least possible jumps, and create a unique course for Wiley in the challenging “Strategery” mode.
The expansion pack (available separately) contains 16 new missions for Wiley as well as 8 additional Flick Trial and Strategery challenges.
