Spooky Spirits is a falling-block game with a difference, it has ghosts in it! The game follows Becky and Tim, two spirit wardens who accidentally fell asleep whilst on the job and let the Spookies escape! Its now up to you to help the wardens capture the Spookies back by matching up the falling coloured blocks.
Players can select blocks by swiping their finger left or right on the screen and can move them by swiping upward and drop them by swiping downward. Although this seems pretty straight-forward it will take the player a few attempts to get used to it. There are also three game modes to choose from: “Puzzle Mode” where players must solve the puzzle in an allotted amount of moves; “Panic Mode” where players must solve the puzzle while racing against the clock and “Eternity Mode” where players continue playing until they lose.
The graphics for this game are rather impressive and it's the little things like the semi-transparent ghosts, Becky and Tim's mannerisms and the detailed background art which really set the game apart from the rest. The music has a very haunting, eerie feel to it however the sound effects themselves leave a lot to be desired as they are infrequent and sometimes seem a little out of place. Players however can avoid this by playing their own iTunes library in the background.
Although Spooky Spirits isn't the first of its kind, with its creativeness and visual appeal it's definitely worth a try and is recommended for anyone who enjoys this style of game.
