Scene It? Movies 2
Download on the AppStore
4 out of 5

PROS

  • User friendly control scheme.
  • Creative question formats break up the usual quiz game gameplay.
  • A solid film bank ranging from classics to recent cinema releases.

CONS

  • The game is still limited to a specific cycle of questions due to the iPhones size limitations.
  • The constant option to purchase films off iTunes or Amazon gets real old, real fast.
  • Some of the clues to questions are quite abstract.

VERDICT

While the game isn’t as big or varied as it’s board game counterpart Scene It? Movies is an enjoyable game that will test player's film knowledge.

Are you that guy or girl who’s always boasting your knowledge of films and actors at every possible opportunity? Well put your money where your mouth is big shot; the popular film trivia game Scene It? has arrived on the iPhone. Players compete in a series of trivia rounds in order to determine who the bigger film buff is.

Players must answer the questions given to them in a number of different and unique game rounds. These range from watching a clip from a film and answering the following questions to interpreting a child’s drawing of a famous scene. All answers are entered by using the iPhone’s touch screen interface, which makes the game very user friendly.

On a whole, Scene It’s visuals and sound are top quality with no real issues. There are two main game modes to play through a single player challenge where scores can be submitted online and a local pass and play type mode. Players are also given the option after every question to purchase the mentioned film by following a link to iTunes or Amazon. While this is a nice addition, it can get quite annoying after a while.

Scene It? Movies is a welcomed addition to the iPhone that movie buffs will love but it does have its limits. The major issue here is that players won’t get the same amount of content as they would with the actual board game; the iPhone just isn’t big enough. Regardless, the game is still a lot of fun for casual and hardcore film goers alike.
