Based on the legendary snowboarding figure, Shaun White: Snowboarding Origins is an extreme snowboarding game which gives players a chance the slice the ice in a free roam atmosphere with over 50 tricks to learn and a vast array of unlockable achievements.

The goal for the game is to achieve the highest score possible by performing tricks which use a combination of grabs, spins and slides. The controls are fairly easy to learn and with a bit of practice players will be performing daring manoeuvres in no time. There are four in-game characters to choose from, each with their own speed, trick or control perk and four countries to race and master - Chile, Japan, Spain and USA. Unfortunately the game currently offers no multi player aspect however it does offer three game modes where players race against their own or other player's saved ghost data via the OpenFeint integration.

The game's graphics are appealing with unique looking characters, polished 3D animation and real life snowboarding footage featured throughout the game. The soundtrack is mostly fast-tempo punk/rock tunes which seem to appear in a lot of these extreme sport style games.

Whilst Shaun White Snowboarding: Origins is an impressive game, it lacks a lot of features that should have been included such as a career or time trial mode, and character customisability. That aside, the game still provides a good deal of entertainment and is worth a try if you are a fan of snowboarding or extreme sport games.
