Oil Spill is a puzzle game where players must try to clean up oil spills by dropping oil drops onto them in order to pop them. Once a bubble pops, it will shoot out other oil drops that will in turn pop more bubbles. You have a limited supply of oil drops, so you will have to chain together these explosions in order to clear the board and maximise your highscore.
Players control which bubbles to pop by tapping on them. If they are full, they will pop and shoot out more oil drops, hopefully starting a chain. Players must calculate what bubbles will pop before they make their choice as some bubbles will take more oil drops to pop than others.
The visuals look good but can get a bit laggy when the board is filled with a large chain reaction of flying oil drops. The sound is great and the comic ‘Yeeahaw!’ after every completed level is a lot of fun to hear. Players cannot use their iPod during gameplay however, but the sound is still fun to listen to. The game is single player only, and features a highscore emailing option, but no online leaderboards.
Oil Spill is an enjoyable puzzle game with a lot of fun gameplay to be had. The chaining gameplay element works great and makes for some hectic puzzle gameplay. The lack of leaderboards is disappointing but hopefully will be addressed with an update. Otherwise, this game is a great play and one that can get very challenging as you play through.
