PROS

  • Bright pirate nautical theme.
  • Fun alternate feature game mode.

CONS

  • No depth or complexity to gameplay.
  • Recycled music from other PM titles.

VERDICT

When it comes down to the wire, Pokie Magic slot machine simulators are ultimately too similar to split hairs so if a Pirate-theme is what you're after then this is the one for you.

Pirates Plunder by Pokie Magic is a vibrant new nautical themed slot machine for the App Store and as always it's another faithful adaption of a casino quality game.

If you've never played a Pokie Magic slot machine game before there's not much to learn. It's a pick up and play game, which is obviously a good thing for a game designed for use in a casino. There's also an auto-play feature to assist on long stretches. The game's main feature mode unlocks a screen with treasure chests that add to your free spins and another bonus mode lets you gamble on a boat race while you shoot competitors with a cannon.

The artwork used for the reels is clear and appropriately themed with typical piratical objects such as swords and parrots. Special modes also include animated sequences. Pokie Magic have also included the usual statistics tracking, payout levels and the ability to switch between a five or a six reel game.

The usual caveats apply with Pirates Plunder and Pokie Magic games, with its single game mode there's not enough value for casual players to approach this App, but it's still an incredibly realistic experience for big slot machine fans.
