VERDICT

Poodle Invasion is a simple and relaxing vertical endless title that doesn't bring anything too special to the genre, but its cute style might just be enough for some.

You're a green blob, poodles are invading... somewhere and while you're falling from space you'll dodge and blow up the invaders while munching down on the occasional sushi. Throw in some pixel-art and some chip-tune music and you've got Poodle Invasion by Frederico Machuca.

Incoming poodles can be avoided by tilting your iDevice left or right, while a destructive force-field can be deployed around your green blob by double tapping the screen. There's a bit of momentum to contend with, preventing you from being able to quickly avoid incoming enemies, but this adds nicely to the game's challenge while retaining a very relaxed atmosphere.

Poodle Invasion's pixel-art style is predominantly 8-bit with a few 16-bit designs and special effects to give it a distinctly modern style. The chip-tune audio can be hard to listen to, but anyone used to the bleeps and bloops of the 80's will get at least a bit of a nostalgic kick.

There are some unlockable achievements and wardrobe upgrades for your green blob to purchase, but there's not much else to this endless title. Poodle Invasion has a lot of style and will appeal to those after something that will destress you at the end of the day, but it's nothing outstanding for the genre. A fun and quirky title to check out.
