Jumbo Snake is a dolled-up vanilla version of 'Snake' that might pique the interest in some long-term mobile phone owners, but surely you have better games to play by now?

Snake. If you own a mobile phone it's a fair bet you've played Snake. It's almost synonymous with the devices after being packed with Nokia phones and most other devices in various iterations. Jumbo Snake by Boost Mobile offers gamers their take on the simple object-eating-and-growing reptile gameplay by elegantly presenting a very vanilla version.

There are no d-pads, virtual sticks or buttons to worry about, just simple swipes. Flicking your finger will determine the direction you head in, while flicking ahead or along the body of your snake will allow it to perform a quick U-turn. There are no power-ups to collect, just simple bonus points and a multiplier to boost your score. It's possible to end the game if you manage to fill the entire screen with your snake, however that's easier said than done.

The interface uses a clean, juicy bubblegum plastic look that's certainly modern however in a strange twist the game plays like a 'retro' pixelated version with your snake moving in spits-and-spurts. This is awkward at the best of times and unlike older versions of the game players are given no option to smooth out or even speed up the gameplay to their tastes. Perhaps the strangest lacking feature is the absence of any online scoreboard, or even iTunes support despite the barren audio in game.

Jumbo Snake is incredibly well presented and certainly worthwhile for people after a very basic Snake title, but it's not a title we'd recommend purchasing for your collection.
