  • Simple multi-touch control scheme.
  • Fast-paced action.

  • Unforgiving, brutally violent theme.
  • Immature in concept.

Bloody Hell !! is an example of just how far gaming can sink when looking for thrills; that isn't to say you shouldn't be allowed to enjoy this, but it's excessively raw and hard to understand who this is truly for.

I should probably start this review with a caveat: Gaming makes no bones of exploiting some rather disturbing ideas for the sake of having fun; 'violence' being one of them. But, I honestly believe there's a line between violence as a fantasy tool for fun and merely being gratuitous for the sake of it. 'Bloody Hell !!' sinks in to the latter of these two distinctions and it's hard to understand who this game is for.

The setup is a rather simple one and all you have to do is tap and shoot targets as they run back and forth through an alley. You have various weapons at your disposal and an admittedly clever combination of controls to switch between them on the fly, but this is where the gameplay value seems to end. Targets from people to animals (yes, cats and dogs) are fair game and must be culled before they reach the other side.

The artwork is extremely basic, with faceless outline designs crossing the screen at high speed. However a lot more time has been taken in animating the gory effects, including animations for those wounded and attempting to crawl away.

In a way I should probably thank 'Bloody Hell !!' for reminding me that there is a fine line between what some might call fun and others might call sick. For me, this title just screams of an immature need to fulfill a blood-lust that may appeal to some teenage boys and a by-gone era of gaming that the industry needs to escape from.
