Assault Commando Review
- Fast-paced, action shooter.
- Semi-auto aiming for easier gameplay.
- Skin of your teeth, over the top battles.
- What goes green, brown, green, brown, blue? This game.
- Repetitive gameplay despite clever level designs.
Assault Commando is a fun and fairly mindless action title that may appeal to those after quick gratification, but it's unlikely to keep you hooked.

What would you do if you were in a jungle with a swag of guns, tasked with a vague mission of taking out a world-domineering madman all the while dealing with a chronic psychological disorder where you must dispense a one-liner after almost every action you make? Why you'd saddle up and blow everything up to pieces 'cause you're playing Assault Commando by 3D Magic.
The game's control system isn't anything too out of the ordinary, with a basic virtual stick and various buttons for weapons, but what's surprising is how well it seems to work as each weapon button sits close to each other on the interface, yet there's a definite separation that makes it easy to fire the correct gun without delay. There are no specific aiming controls either, but pointing your hero in the general direction of your enemies is all you require to blow them to kingdom-come.
Be prepared for jungles, jungles and more jungles as you traipse around a generic South American jungle landscape, complete with huts, rivers and temporary fortifications to overcome. Each area of the game acts as a miniature gauntlet, often providing a checkpoint just before your hero dies, but despite the clean 3D visuals the greens and browns eventually all start to blur in to one another and it's hard to stick with the game for extended periods.
As action titles go, Assault Commando is surprisingly fun and easy to jump in to, but it doesn't take long to get bogged down in the repetition of the levels and is only recommended for action fans after a quick fix.
