'a Forgotten Ghost' by 2D-Only is an interesting puzzle platformer to say the least. Your goal is to collect all of the good souls in each of the game's six levels in an attempt to redeem your lost ghost.
Players can choose to switch the side on which the controls are located, but in either case you will control the ghost's movement with one side while attacking on the other. This presents some awkward problems as you're required to jump quite often in order to access every blue soul scattered across the levels. Also, while you can attack certain enemies, they leave behind 'evil' souls that hurt you when touched and move at a rate just fast enough to make it hard to judge jumps correctly. The easiest option for progression often involves taking the damage on purpose to eliminate the evil soul and others around it, healing up at checkpoints when you get a chance.
A lot more time has been dedicated to the game's visuals, pairing cartoonish designs with Gothic backgrounds and small touches like watching the ghost's eyes flash when he picks up souls and the lightning striking down in the sky add to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, looking good doesn't fix what is an otherwise ponderously slow and hard to enjoy game, especially when something as simple as saving your progression closing the App isn't implemented, requiring you to restart should a call or anything else interrupt your game.
'a Forgotten Ghost' has the potential to be a quick and fun platformer, but too many problems result in this being little more than a waste of time.
'a Forgotten Ghost' doesn't aim to be an action-packed platforming extravaganza, but its slow controls and ponderous gameplay make it a hard game to enjoy.
