Pochi in Space by CodePlay Studios is an odd little arcade title and despite its somewhat simple gameplay of avoiding incoming objects, it remains a strangely addictive title to enjoy.
It seems odd that there aren't any alternative controls, however the default system of tilting to move left and right and touching the screen to activate your 'Pochi' powers gets the job done without much fuss. There are two different basic games to choose from, either playing through an endless Exploration Mode or attempting to get the fastest time possible in Race Mode. Bonuses are awarded for 'close calls', though these seem to be sparse in their detection, however other easier bonuses include collecting coins to go towards unlocking new outfits and visual themes to play with.
The default Doodle-style visuals are cute, but not terribly inspired, however the constantly shifting background and beautiful background music gives the game an epic feel. This is a nice touch considering the somewhat simple act of merely avoiding, shooting or blocking objects in your path.
While it almost goes without saying that this is an excellent title for younger audiences, it doesn't lose its appeal as a casual title for older players at all. Pochi In Space is cute and charming and while it may not become a regular go-to-game, it's still a fun game to whip out in your spare time.
Pochi in Space is a fun, but fairly simple title and while it may not appeal to many older gamers it's just perfect for youngsters and those after a lighthearted casual experience.
