BIG BAD Flower Review
- Fun visual style.
- Unique combination of swipe and tap controls.
- No discernible bonuses for multiple bubbles.
- Quick to slip out of control from a moment's loss of focus.
- No gameplay depth at all.
BIG BAD Flower stops short of letting itself bloom as a fun arcade-action title and manages to get bogged down by prickly repetitive mechanics.

The idea of a giant flower taking over the world by encasing them in bubbles and blowing them away is just so madcap that I wonder if the flower's name is Bob. Obscure references aside, in BIG BAD Flower by BIG BAD BRUSH you'll need to draw bubbles around your enemies, ranging from fluffy critters to aliens in space in an attempt to blow them away, permanently.
At first the idea is seems sound, with creatures appearing at set locations that need to be encased before eliminating them, but it starts getting horribly repetitive early on and never really changes at all. Some enemies can fire weapons at you or can't be encased with a bubble directly, but each level is the same monotonous act of drawing, tapping, swiping, rinse-repeat. Your reactions will need to speed up as you go along, but this presents a new problem as early as the second or third stage as you realize that these levels go on for way, way too long.
There's also not a lot going on visually as well, with animations being sparse and the most exciting thing you have to look forward to is your flower spinning before a bunch of bubbles fly away. This is a shame given that the designs fit the somewhat whacky theme perfectly. As you complete areas you're rewarded with a bonus game, though these feature just as much thinly spread gameplay albeit faster paced.
BIG BAD Flower is in dire need of some pruning and while the idea of blowing away enemies in bubbles may potentially be fun, doing this exclusively is as boring as watching grass grow.
