Is it just me, or has it been a while since three-match games have been on your personal radar? Apart from the occasional game throwing it in as an additional gameplay feature it seems to have lost a lot of steam. Fruit Frenzy by White Bat Games doesn't seek to reignite the old gem-fueled flames, opting instead to take a puzzle-oriented approach to the gameplay that's as fresh as the fruit you use to make matches.

Instead of swapping icons directly, players need to manage shift the fruit in to matches by either sliding columns up and down or a single row in the middle left and right. Matches can only be made within the highlighted horizontal row, with an additional challenge being thrown in to the mix as fruit is randomly added to the columns, limiting how far they can be moved once there are seven or more items in it.

However, Fruit Frenzy isn't just a one-trick pony and players can test out their skills with logic puzzles based around the gameplay mechanics. You'll be tested with varied scenarios including having to create specific combos within a limited amount of moves ot clearing the board of a particular fruit. This is by no means an easy mode to complete, even with hints being available. Thankfully the charming background music provides a relaxing mood that defuses some of the more frustrating moments in the game.

Fruit Frenzy is a beautifully polished and wonderfully designed puzzler that's perfect for anyone after a casual arcade experience with a bit of a bite.
