Supremacy Wars Review
- Three races with unique traits and artwork.
- Unlockable modes for additional experience.
- Fun boss battles.
- Selection method is prone to errors.
- Not so much a 'con', but walkthroughs ruin some of the magic of learning.
Civilizations Wars isn't just another real-time Risk clone, with its spells and alternate modes adding a neat twist to let you play the way you want (plus giant crab bosses always rock!).

Most people would recognise the gameplay in Civilizations Wars from previous games like Galcon Labs, but in this latest title for Chillingo players have a few tricks up their sleeves that will help and hinder their army in turn while battling other civilizations and more than a few monsters as well.
Players are faced with needing to control their population to grow, defend and attack neutral and enemy forces to claim various landmarks. For each building that is claimed the population will grow to a set maximum, however forces are lost if you attempt to cram more people than the maximum in to these buildings. Up to five of these structures can be selected at a time with a target to demolish, exposing these villagers to other hazards in the world including god-like spells or even defensive towers. 'Crystals' can also be captured, adding to the pool of energy each civilization has for spells and also dispensing higher quality warriors when emptied.
As you progress you'll earn experience and skill points to spend on new spells or upgrades to improve your civilization on its quest for dominance. Each race features unique artwork and structures to compliment their culture, though at this time there are only three to choose from. In an interesting twist, the developers have also included a 'walkthrough', linking to videos that can help players to overcome difficult challenges like taking on gigantic monsters.
However things don't end at simply overcoming your enemies as players can earn more experience points for unlocking and playing challenging alternate modes that include 'no magic' and a 'blind' mode that hides the number of forces of your enemy. Civilizations Wars attempts to pack a lot of variety in to such a small bundle and while the challenge may be overwhelming it's a welcome one that's fun and easy to dive in to.
