Sometimes you want nothing more than an excuse to waste time and fill the dull moments in the day with something more interesting than what's happening around you. This could be called antisocial behavior, but sometimes you don't want to try to make friends with the smelly shirtless guy riding the bus with you. Insert Flick Home Run! by infinity pocket; an arcade-style home run title that proves to be addictive mostly thanks to its satisfyingly simple, but visceral controls.

All you need to do is wait for the pitch and then swipe away, striking the ball as hard as possible and watching it fly based on the speed and accuracy of your hit. Initially there are only a handful of different pitches, varying from basic lobs to fast-balls, floaters and sinkers. As you increase the 'steps' you'll unlock new pitches that literally add a curve ball to the game, so you'll need to have a keen eye and fast reflexes to keep scoring it big.

You'll need to score big too - your final tally determines how much experience you earn, which in turn allows you to add points to your contact, power or 'batting eye' skills. The latter allows you to determine the kind of pitch being sent your way, though this ability is in limited supply.

Where Flick Home Run! falls off though is in the need to grind to escape the 'minor' leagues and finally make your way to the more challenging 'major' mode or the unique and compelling 'Moon Star' mode where you try to hit as many stars as possible while using the moon to boost your hit. Other issues plague the player such as being unable to fast-forward bad hits to move on to the next one or having the power bar fail to regenerate if you use the last of it on the final pitch (though this seems more of a balance issue to prevent infinite runs).

Flick Home Run! may not be deep or complex, but it's simple, it's fun and it feels great to make that one perfect hit that sets the ball flying to the limits of the game's environment.
