Pinch Peeps Review

Review Everplay Interactive By Dave Flodine, 5 days, 12 hours ago
Pinch Peeps Review

Simple can often mean better, especially with the iPhone's unique strengths when it comes to control schemes. Pinch Peeps is not what we would call a puzzle game, but more a hand-eye coordination tool for younger gamers, where the goal is to use your thumb and finger to pair up cute and colorful creatures for your place on the high score leaderboards. There are two game modes available; timed, and endless. In timed mode the goal is to create as many pairs as fast as possible to stay t...

Pandemic 2.5 Review

Pandemic 2.5 Review

It's a strange thing, but some may know the meme, but not the game that was responsible for creating it - I am of course referring to Pandemic II by Dark Realm Studios. Even if you were half way around the world, Madagascar closed its borders if it heard you had a runny nose. The developer is back, this time in iOS form, to bring its infamous infection simulator to the masses, adding in a few tweaks to make it a worthwhile purchase for returning fans. Your task is simple - infect and ...

AbraWORDabrA Review

AbraWORDabrA Review

AbraWORDabrA has a flaw - from the outset it feels and plays almost exactly like every 'edutainment' game crammed down your craw during your formative years. The problems are simple, but you can't move on until you get past the rudimentary game slapped on top of it. However, initial pacing issues aside, AbraWORDabrA by Total Arkade Software soon shows its teeth and you'll almost be wishing for the simple game you were complaining about. The game is split up in to two main modes, with ...

Sir Benfro’s Brilliant Bal... Review

Sir Benfro’s Brilliant Balloon Review

If the art style of Sir Benfro's Brilliant Balloon were to have any comparison, it would probably be to children's books like 'Where the Wild Things Are' that visually painted an alien world of both wonder and a little foreboding. Sir Benfro is off to explore new places and chart the exotic creatures that inhabit them, and it's up to the player to guide him through his journey safely. Sir Benfro travels by way of firefly filled balloon. Their lights propel him along, but every so ofte...

Review Crytek By Andrew Nesvadba, 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Fibble Review

Crytek, better known for developing 3D game engines that push computers to their limits, have finally dipped their toes in to the casual gaming scene with Fibble. I say casual because it has all the hallmarks of a relaxing puzzle title, from it's excessively 'cute' presentation; simple drag and tap control scheme; and relatively limited amount of content... however it's anything but a simple game. You play as Fibble - a rubbery, bouncy alien attempting to find his crew and repair his ...

Draw Something by OMGPOP Review

Draw Something by OMGPOP Review

I bring this message to you in the brief moments of time I now have spare to me. It is abundantly clear to me now that downloading, installing and playing Draw Something with my friends was a huge mistake - I need to work, but I can't... I'm stuck trying to work out how best to depict the word 'Morning' in a clever new way. OMGPOP - you have single-handedly ruined the productivity of smartphone owners around the world. For those who haven't jumped on board the increasingly pop...

Fairway Solitaire - Big Fi... Review

Fairway Solitaire - Big Fish Games Review

When starting up a game called Fairway Solitaire, the name suggests a lot. “OK”, you think. “Somehow they've combined solitaire with golf. This should be interesting”. Then you're hit with a cheerfully animated introduction about the age old war between golf and gophers before being thrown into a puzzle game with not only intriguing mechanics, but plenty of personality. Not every course in this game (and there are many on offer) is eighteen holes, but the basic...

Dark Indie Platformer Limbo May Be Headed To the iPhone

Independent developers Playdead are looking for a programmer to port their games to new platforms, prompting speculation from NowGamer that their acclaimed platformer Limbo may see an iPhone release. Limbo was originally released in 2010 on the Xbox Live Arcade platform, and has since been ported to the PlayStation 3, PC, and Mac. Playdead's job listing mentions that the studio are investigating new platforms for possible ports, including iOS. Adored by critics and players alike, Limbo has you controlling a nameless boy exploring a threatening forest. Its creepy atmosphere and stark art style ensured that Limbo stood out in a genre usually known for its primary colours and jaunty tone. ... Read More

Diggin' Dogs Review

In a world ruled by cute dogs, three adventurers will dig their way through hazardous caverns in order to retrieve the lost pirate-dog treasure, along with a few bones - because, you know, they might get hungry too! Diggin' Dogs by Soap Creative and Chillingo is a hard game to pin down despite bearing a striking similarity to similar treasure hunting titles of the past. You see, the dogs you control (as well as the environment itself) is subject to the physical influences of your iDev...

Super Meat Boy Being Rebuilt For Possible iPh...

Super Meat Boy Being Rebuilt For Possible iPhone Release

Team Meat, the independent studio behind the console and PC indie platformer Super Meat Boy, announced on Twitter yesterday that they would be rebuilding the game from the ground up for a possible iPhone launch. According to the team's tweets, this game would be 'a re-envisioning of [Super Meat Boy] remade from scratch for touch', and it 'will not play like SMB!' Anyone speculating on what form the game may take can rule out a simple high score chase-'em-up, as Team Meat explicitly said it won't be 'a simple game like "Doodle Jump" it will be a larger more traditional game'. Nor will it control much like Super Meat Boy. Nor even be released unless the team are completely happy with the re... Read More

Top 10 iPhone Games Of 2011

Top 10 iPhone Games Of 2011

For those that know me personally, 'top lists' are a topic I find to be profoundly difficult to participate in as there's always a point at which you're splitting hairs just for the sake of ranking one thing above or below another. Keeping this in mind, AppSpy.com's Top 10 iOS Games for 2011 has not been numbered for the simple reason that a game's position ultimately means so very little when you consider how many games it had to overcome to reach that spot. Hold on to your pitchforks though as Dave, Richard and I have selected our personal favorites of the year, so at least three games will be going home with the knowledge that they managed to crack the cold-hard shell of these r... Tongue Tied! Review

Review Mojo Bones Ltd By Andrew Nesvadba, 5 months, 1 week ago
Tongue Tied! Review

Animal lovers beware: Tongue Tied! by Mojo Bones is so insanely, heartwarmingly, saccharin coatedly loveable that you may want to buy it on impulse... don't. Without the incredibly affectionate characters of Mick and Ralph (the tongue-tied doggy-duo), you might just throw your iDevice at a wall, so stay a while and listen before making that final decision. Each of the game's 50 currently available levels is a physics playground with the lovable dogs acting as your tool for point scori...

Let Me Out Review

Let Me Out Review

Show me the way to go home. I'm tired and I want to go to bed. I was trapped inside a book about an hour ago and it's doing things to my head. Is it a good or bad thing when your game's premise can be surmised by changing a few words in a drinking song? An unlucky little book dragon has been sucked into the pages of the tome it was reading and now through the use of cannons and strategically placed beams of wood, the golden pages need to be collected to send it home. Each leve...

Zen Pinball Review

Zen Pinball Review

I'm seriously having flashbacks here - as a child of the 80s and a self-admitted video game nerd, the local video arcades were a veritable haven for me. While pinball games were never my forte, there was a distinct magical allure that came from the newer generation of fancy and complex titles that tried to capture the essence of a franchise, typified by the introduction of Midway's classic Addams Family pinball table. These memories are distinct and powerful, which is why I was surprised to a...

Mage Gauntlet Review

Mage Gauntlet Review

When you've built up a reputation for being one of the best at creating a certain kind of game, it would seem like madness to completely throw it out the window and start on something entirely new. When rumors surfaced of Rocketcat Games starting work on an Action-RPG, it was almost hard to believe, but despite their previous history of ninja-rope swinging time-trial games, Mage Gauntlet has arrived on the App Store. The game is, first and foremost, very self-aware of its nature and t...
