Fifth episode of Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise ' The Final Blow' is finally out

The fifth and final episode of Yak & Co’s Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise is finally out on both the App Store and Google Play. To say it’s been a long time coming would perhaps be an understatement, though many seem to be singing the praises of ‘The Final Blow, which suggests to me that it’s probably been worth the wait. The fifth episode was teased earlier this month over on Yak & Co’s official Twitter account. The release date arrived via cryptic puzzle, with many fans rushing to solve the conundrum. If you’re new to the series, Agent A is a classy point-and-click adventure game where you assume the role of a mysterious agent. You’ve bee…

The iOS version of Dead Cells, Motion Twin’s smash-hit roguelike, is now available for download over on the App Store. It arrives following a near year-long wait which started when a Google Play store page leaked the existence of the ports. It’s headed our way from developer Playdigious, and it seems like the team there has done a commendable job of translating a complex, lightning-fast game over to mobile. Dead Cells first launched last year on PC and consoles, going on to earn various GOTY nominations. Its mix of accessible roguelike mechanics and high-octane action made it once of the standout indies from last year, both in terms of sales and critical adoration. It was always…

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will be delisted from the App Store on September 1st

The popular iOS port of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will be delisted from the App Store on September 1st. Freedom Unite originally launched as a PSP game all the way back in 2008, before being ported to iOS in 2014.  While it’s bad news regardless of how you spin it, players who’ve already purchased the game will still be able to download and play it on their device with only a few caveats. You’ll still have the option to play through the single-player and online modes, but the in-game chat features will be removed. To make matters a little worse, it’s been confirmed that Freedom Unite is only supported up to iOS 10.2, meaning its days are numbered. Our sist…

Dear Esther, The Chinese Room’s divisive narrative-driven adventure game, is coming to iOS

Dear Esther, The Chinese Room’s highly divisive narrative-driven adventure game, is heading to iOS later in the year. It’s arguably the game responsible for the popularisation of the ‘walking sim’ genre. After originally launching for PC all the way back in 2012, Dear Esther has gone on to sell over one million units. At launch, it was praised for its very deliberate pacing and refreshing lack of action. For sure, it didn’t win over everyone, but it’s hard to argue against the game’s importance as a foundation for the likes of Gone Home and What Remains of Edith Finch. Your time in Dear Esther is spent exploring an isolated, abandoned Hebridean i…

Golf Peaks' latest update adds 12 super challenging courses

Indie developer Afterburn’s puzzle/golf hybrid, Golf Peaks, is getting a whopping new update later this month that adds 12 extra hard courses to tackle. The new levels are totally free, and you can expect to see version 3.0 launch on August 13th. The announcement of more content for Golf Peak, a previous Big Indie Pitch winner, is great news for puzzle fans. If you’ve not tried it out yet, it’s maybe best described as a turn-based puzzler where you’re given a handful of pre-selected moves to make. The “moves” in this case are swings of your putter. It sounds like something that shouldn’t really work, and yet it absolutely does. I suppose it helps…

Diorama Detective is a lighthearted AR title about solving quirky mysteries

Diorama Detective is a lighthearted AR title about recreating crime scenes and gradually working to solve quirky mysteries. It’s the latest game from Studio Cypher, a developer known for its educational games, and it’s heading straight for the App Store on August 8th. Despite the detective genre’s reputation for being fairly grim, Diorama Detective aims to offer a more kid-friendly experience, with accessible AR exploration and a humorous tone. The general idea behind it is that you’ll explore a series of highly-detailed dioramas to search for clues that might lead you to crack the case. Recreating crime scenes can be done by moving characters and objects around t…
