Frontline Commando 2 is the latest shooter to emerge from Glu's freemium blaster factory. But, even though it takes the same structure as many of the company’s other titles, it does try to stand apart from its stablemates. Though Frontline Commando 2’s standard near-future battlefields don't help stand out from the crowd, their visual clarity does. Though the locations and soldiers may look familiar, every environment, enemy, and boss looks crisp and clear on the touchscre…Watch The Video Review
There is a childlike joy to Glorkian Warrior: Trials Of Glork, the new game from Pixeljam. Its pink, three-eyed alien hero is the kind of creation you would expect to pour from the mind of a talented preschooler. This is no doubt due to the influence of James Kochalka, the award winning comic artist behind the game’s art. Everything about the game oozes comic book charm - from the challenges set by the two power-suit wearing sisters, to the backchat between the hero and his Super…Watch The Video Review
Vertical shooter Alien Ride just got a lot more interesting. Professional ear abuser Skrillex has used the free game as a platform to debut his new album Recess. Alien Ride is a simple shmup that has you destroying asteroids with lasers. However, play it for a few minutes, and you'll unlock tracks from Skrillex's latest jam. The music will only be available for a limited time, but the game provided a link to download the album on iTunes when it goes live on March 18th. This isn't Skrillex's first appearence in a game. In 2012, his music appeared in both Syndicate and Far Cry 3. In fact, mainstream music acts are harnessing the power of the App Store more and more. Just last month, we we…
The game which Beyond Space wants to be and the game which Beyond Space actually is are two entities light years apart. Developer Bulkypix clearly intended to make an expansive space drama filled with intergalactic and interpersonal conflict. What they actually made was a good space shooter, weighed down by an overly verbose story and horrible voice acting. Max Walker, the star of Space Beyond, is an unfortunate soul. Despite being a talented fighter pilot, he is the ugliest man…Watch The Video Review
It easy to see why Shellrazer has been blowing up all over the App Store. After all, a side-scrolling shooter in which you mount a giant customisable War Turtle is a premise which is tricky to ignore. However, the turtle-powered blaster has just become even bigger thanks to the game's newest update, which adds a brand new island - and a ton of new enemies - to the game. The new island of Bugzkrieg is set to further expand this cartoony side scroller. The additional land mass takes the total number of islands up to three. and brings with it a host of new challenges. Introducing more than 50 new enemy units, Shellrazer now offers over a hundred types of advisories to shoot, snipe, a…
These days, the notion of guiding a spaceship from left to right in the hope of stopping an alien invasion is rather quaint. In the days of R-Type, however, this flavour of sci-fi blaster was still considered cutting-edge. Irem's side-scrolling shooter series introduced massive power-ups and screen-filling bosses to a generation of gamers. As a result, seeing these games faithfully reproduced in the palm of our hands creates a strange nostalgia. As far as content and visuals are…Watch The Video Review
Doves, blood, and excessive violenge - director John Woo's fingerprints are all over Bloodstroke. But, while at first glance this new game from Chillingo seems to be relying on the famous director's name and a distinct visual style, it actually adds a lot of interesting twists of its own to the top-down shooter formula. Perhaps the most striking thing about Bloodstroke is its handsome watercolour visuals. This powerful art style uses strong black brush strokes on a white bac…Watch The Video Review
