Solve tricky logic puzzles in The Sequence 2, releasing on iOS next month

The Sequence 2 is an abstract logic-based puzzler in the vein of games like SpaceChem and Perfect Paths, challenging you to construct elaborite Rube Goldberg-esque mechanisms that work in harmony to transport inputs to a waiting output. Your goal is simple: manuever a red circles across the hexagonal grid to an exit tile. But that's not so easy when you need to do so by synchronizing numerous nodes to work together to move those circles through the tight map, not just once but in repeatable cycles that don't stall mid-loop.  The nodes you place have various functions, from pushing or pulling circles to rotating their position. Combining those functions allow you to methodically…

Hidden Gem of the Week: Hexa Turn

Hexa Turn is a minimalist logic puzzler, placing your barrier-construction abiltiies againsit a predictable AI and tricky level configurations. As a concept, Hexa Turn is quite simple: a triangle relentlessly travels the hexagon grid turn-by-turn, taking the shortest possible route towards squares on the grid. It's your job to prevent that by filling in hexagons to create barriers, blocking off the triangle's path and redirecting its approach, until you've trapped it with no viable moves forward. That's easier said than done when once Hexa Turn starts adding multiple squares to protect and larger grids for the triangle to move across. Even without the mechanics that come later, Hexa Turn…

Hidden Gem of the Week: Puzzlepops!

At a glance, Puzzlepops might be quick to dismiss. It seems much too sweet and charming to be a tricky and challenging puzzle game. But while it may be all familiar concepts and puzzle design, Puzzlepops delivers a bevy of satisfyingly difficult and clever brain-teasers. Along a structure of nodes and path, you need to maneuver candy pieces into the properly colored and sized spots. That last part - size - is crucial, as like candies can combine into larger chunks. On these increasingly claustrophobic grids, where space is a premium and there are different candy types clogging up paths, figuring how and where candies need to be so they can meld never ceases to a challenging aspect o…

Hidden Gem of the Week: Perfect Paths

If you've played the (sadly no longer available) port of SpaceChem or the rail-drawing puzzler Trainyard, Perfect Paths may feel familiar despite its potential confusing UI and mechanics. Much like those, this is a methodical logic-based puzzle game, challenging you to splice together nodes amid limited space. At its most basic level, your goal is actually quite simple. All you have to do is move the colored blocks onto the similar-colored tiles on the grid. This is a game of step-by-step planning, of counting turns and meticulously setting up your commands and paths. It's the kind of game where, once you know how all the elements work together, you could succeed on your first try if you…

Hidden Gem of the Week: RYB

This is the first in a weekly series of features dedicated to highlighting interesting, lesser known hidden gems across iOS and Android. With the sheer volume and rate of new releases, it can be easy for a game to unnoticed, unseen; some here may be newer or older, but all are engaging in their own unique way. Picross, Paint It Back, Minesweeper, Hexcells. There’s something uniquely satisfying about a logic puzzler, perhaps how one can solve their challenges without guessing or mistakes, through pure deduction. RYB falls squarely in this category, a Picross-style puzzle game that eschews numbers and grids for colors and geometric shapes. Squares, triangle, hexagons, and other sha…

Naturally, it's up to you to infiltrate the facility, solve the puzzles therein, and save the day. Think Secret Agent Professor Layton, and you'll get the picture. Six categories of puzzles will test your logic, memory, and ingenuity while you descend into the complex's depths. If you are of “of weak character”, the game also links to a free cheat app to help you through its more…
