What do you get when you combine a matching puzzle with a collectibles game? You get Time Geeks: Cloneggs.

In each level there are a number of eggs. You can either hatch them by tapping on them, or over time they will hatch themselves. When they hatch, little sprite characters appear, and it's up to you to find their clones and drag a line between them. At the end of each level, one character is left, and this clone is now added to your collection and will appear in subsequent levels. As you progress more eggs appear, the level timer increases, and new eggs will pop up after you've cleared areas. This is just in eggbreaker mode however. There is a madness mode with game changing power-ups, a custom mode to make your own experience, and the promise of more modes to come. The only caveat is that each of these modes takes a large number of collectibles acquired to unlock.

The game's presentation is a mixed bag. The sprite work is all very well done, with a lot of the sprites being instantly recognizable... and here lies a big problem. While playing through set one, some of the sprites that appeared included Iron Man, Robin, Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls, and even Mario. It might be difficult to argue fair use or parody here. The music constantly loops and gets very annoying very quickly, but it can be turned off in the options menu.

It's obvious Clone Eggs isn't for everyone. The actual gameplay is quite repetitive and can be extremely tedious. For those interested in collecting all the sprites however, the inclusion of QR codes to easily swap clones with your friends, plus free clones on the company's website is a nice addition. As a game, Clone Eggs falls short of the mark, but if you have the collecting bug in you, it might be hooked by this title.
