Top 3 iPhone Games for May 2012

By , on June 6, 2012

As we usher in the new month it's only fair we say farewell to the month that was by awarding the best of the best with our personal recommendation. In a surprising last-second dash, May has turned out quite a few excellent titles, so lets see what has made the cut for 'AppSpy.com's Top iPhone Games for May, 2012'.

Little Things Forever (KlickTock) $0.99 Univ.

Reprising their clip-art I-Spy-esque title for the iPad from a couple years ago, KlickTock's Little Things Forever is an excellent example of elegance in gaming. From its clean, clear visual style, to it's wonderfully complex hand-designed collages and near endless randomized gameplay, there's little reason not to have this game on hand for when you need to kill a few spare moments. Bigger may be better for some, but sometimes more of the same can be just as good.

Score! Classic Goals (First Touch Publishing) $0.99 Univ.

Precision, timing and the athletic skill to pull off the first two are paramount in for Football players when attempting to score a goal. Now fans of the sport and those who enjoy skill-based titles can relive the great moments of Football by recreating these goals with the same precision and timing required by the players themselves. Easy to pick up, but far more challenging to master, your fingers will be put to the test as you attempt to out-play AI opponents hoping to rewrite history.

Editor's Choice: LostWinds2: Winter of the Melodias (Frontier Developments) $3.99 Univ.

I know, it's not an iOS exclusive title, but LostWinds2 goes so far beyond its origins to become the gorgeous platformer we see before us. Improving upon the first title not only graphically, but also in terms of gameplay, LostWinds2 places you in control of Toku and Enril once more as they attempt to thwart the evils plaguing their land once again, this time with the ability to also change the weather. Even if you've missed out on the original, this is a great pick up for those after a fun metroid-vania-like platformer.

As already mentioned, the month has been dotted with strong releases and those looking for more great titles shouldn't go past great releases like: This Could Hurt - a one-finger puzzler that will push your limits at precision timing in a variety of beautiful locations; NOVA 3 - the latest in Gameloft's sci-fi shooter series that's just as fun offline as it is online; Air Mail - a casual flying simulator that brings a Pilotwings-like freedom to the App Store; Bee Leader - a visually stunning and surprisingly challenging bee simulator that's too cute to pass up; and Gene Effect - where other similar titles failed, Gene Effect picks up the pieces and does so with a style and pomp all of its own.

Until next month, enjoy the many great releases that we've listed here and we'll continue to cover the latest in news, reviews and features, which you can track by subscribing here or following us on Twitter or Facebook.
