App Wrap Up (Week ending June 27th, 2012)

By , on July 28, 2012

Phew, i hope you have some endurance dear readers and this installment of the App Wrap Up is gonna be a long one. Lots of interesting games to take a look at. As always i wish to remind our readers that we don't know how well these games play. The trailers make them look potentially interesting and it's up to you to follow your own judgement if you see something that catches your eye. Without further ado...

Static Quest: The Delivery (Cookiebit)

Now the trailer here doesn't really show off too much, but there's a pleasant enough pixel art style and what looks to be an upgrade system. Let's just hope that Static Quest doesn't refer to just standing in the one place and attacking incoming monsters. That would get old fast.

Space Girl (Arthur Danskin)

What made me choose this is the hand drawn and coloured backgrounds and the pleasant music backing. Those sound samples of "yes", and "great" would get really annoying, really fast however.

Pipe Swipe (Simon Newman)

Pipe games are old hat, but add tile swiping and colour mixing into the equation, and you got something interesting. Really the trailer tells all on this one.

Bucketz (Picnic Hippo Studios)

After sitting through the entire trailer, i'm still not quite sure what the game's about other than smart talking cartoon buckets and things flying around the screen. Bizarre.

Paranorman: 2-Bit Bub (Laika)

This is a tie-in game for the film Paranorman which is out soon. You control 2-bit Bub, a dog in two parts the hops between rings he grips onto with his teeth. The visuals are top notch, but we wonder if the gameplay can stay interesting.

Puppet Ninja (PrimulasofT)

Remember those stick figure martial arts animations that were popular about ten years ago? This looks like a game version of that. The trailer isn't shot all that well so it's hard to see what's going on, but sometimes chaos makes for an entertaining and engrossing game experience.

Start the Rockets (Qplaze)

A pyrotechnic puzzler... that's a new one. Light one rocket and have it set off all the others, hopefully grabbing the three stars along the way. If nothing else, you can ooo and aah at all the pretty colours.

Arrow Mania (GMT Development Ltd)

You're some kind of mobile arrow dispensary. Magnets are involved as well. Shoot bullseyes to move along, avoid hitting birds cause they will destroy you. Seems interesting enough.

Roads of Rome 2 (Realore)

Some sort of sim game, that even though it looks to be set in ancient times, has an odd modern look to it. The game is mainly about building roads so depending on what car you drive, your milage may very. Yeah, i had to say it.

Toybox Racer (Gryphus Enterprises Ltd)

Any game with a level editor always piques interest. Kind of bland visually but if the racing is fun, this could be good for a while, especially if you have the creative bug.

And that's it for this monumental App Wrap Up! Till next time folks!
