App Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 19th December 2012)

By , on December 19, 2012

Hey Hey dear readers! Well it's a Wednesday and most of you have probably noticed, we have a new site here at Appspy! It should make it a lot easier to comment, track apps, and most importantly, just look around the site. But we're not here to extoll the virtues of the new site, we're here to have a look at some app trailers, and maybe show you something interesting that you haven't seen before, or something that just might entertain you. Let's start things off!

Asva the Monkey (Osja Studio)

While this trailer is annoying for not actually showing off how the game works (due to its love of quick edits), you can kind of see what's going on here. Looks like a puzzle tile game, where you have to remove all the platforms in the level by having the monkey jump on them in a certain order. With a decent art style to boot, this could be fun.

Ricochet (quare Root Games Inc.)

This is pretty bare bones presentation wise, but the flick and bounce mechanic is interesting, plus any game gets points for having a level editor (as long as there's a way to create a community around it). Based on the trailer, the only real downside I see here is that there doesn't seem to be much sense of speed when flicking. The ball kind of floats lazily towards its target like the air is made out of molasses. That could be a problem.

Impulse - the game (Matthias Falk)

The trailer begins and you think, "Oh, this is an Arkanoid clone meant to look like it belongs on the Game Boy". Then near the end of the trailer, there's one small section of gameplay footage that hints at something a little weirder, and its that section that piqued my curiousity.

Jet Trains (Realore)

The concept of this game sounds like it took place in the imagination of a hyperactive twelve year old, and that is in no way a bad thing. Part racer, part action game, part runner... it looks chock full of power-ups, stunts, and destruction. As long as the upgrade system isn't trying to extort money or artifically prolong gameplay through grinding, this should be worth a look.

Pangolin (Feedtank LLC)

Aside from the stupid but humourous lead up to showing off the gameplay, Pangolin has a certain charm to it that may help it stand out amongst the litany of physics puzzlers out there. Those who love the genre should see how it stacks up.

And that's it for another edition of the App Wrap Up. As always, if you have played any of the games featured, or are inclined to try them out, tell us what you think in the comments. Till next time, enjoy your gaming!

The site doesn't seem to work well in Chrome. I don't have anything that tells me "You have [x] Apps with Price Drops"

Not just email alerts, there used to be a field above "Recent Price Drops" on the right saying "You have [X] Tracked Price Drops." It was the reason I came to the site, but at least on Chrome, it's gone now. Let me know if you want a screenshot or something.

Same here for me: Not only is the "You have [X] Tracked Price Drops." gone, there are ACTUAL price drops and I don't get an alert about it on the site. I tried with Chrome & Firefox.
Next to the reviews this is the most important feature of this site, please fix asap, thanks!

Thanks for your feedback guys!
Apologies for omitting the feature.
We'd hoped to have this carried over in to the new format but it wasn't working as intended at the time we had to launch so we have removed it temporarily.
We're hoping to have the feature back in place in early January along with a few other cool features to help you keep on top of the tracked apps.
Thanks for your patience.
