An investigative thriller game with non-linear storytelling, Telling Lies revolves around a cache of secretly recorded video conversations. Starring Logan Marshall-Green, Alexandra Shipp, Kerry Bishé, Angela Sarafyan and directed by Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
How does it work?
Telling Lies sits you in front of an anonymous laptop loaded with a stolen NSA database full of footage. The footage covers two years in the intimate lives of four people whose stories are linked by a shocking incident. Explore the database by typing search terms, watch the clips where those words are spoken and piece together your story.
Unlike anything you've played before, Telling Lies is an intimate and intense experience. A game where you decide the truth.
Ratings and Reviews
Fun-ish
You play as a journalist, type search words, videos related to those words are displayed to you to view. That’s it. That’s the entire game. You just watch short video after short video until the final clip. Maybe that is your thing? For me it wasn’t that interesting, but if this type of game play sounds cool to you this will be your cup of tea! Unfortunately this game play mechanic setup makes it so you don’t end up finding out the results of a bunch of sub-plots as you watch the videos. You really feel like you’re viewing the clips in real, it’s quite immersive.
Big Sur?
I was enjoying this game, but the upgrade to Big Sur has caused the video to start jumping and lagging in an unacceptable manner. Makes the game pretty much unplayable. I do hope this is sorted out soon, as I'd love to finish the game. If it does happen, this would be a five star review. But with this issue, it loses two stars.
Unplayable
Increadibly slow, videos laggy, mouse control useless.
Don't even consider it until this is addressed.
