Fast & Furious is a racing game based on the popular movie franchise. There are plenty of game modes which are variations on the standard racing 'cross the finish line' gameplay, including a story which ties together the game modes with the movie's narrative, and an online competitive mode. Does all this variety make for a good game however?
Control is pretty streamlined. For most of the racing, acceleration is taking care of automatically. You tilt the iPhone to steer left and right, and touch the screen to brake and engage nitro. In the drag race mode, you have to shift gears. This is done by touching the screen as well. Many of the levels have shortcuts so braking is mostly not a concern, keeping the racing fast.
Visually the game utilizes 3d competently with a decent frame rate. There were some drops, and the visuals don't really stand out, but it works. There are a plethora of modes, including road, drag, drift, and GPS races, tunnel run, persuit, and evade. There's something for everyone, with this reviewer personally enjoying the persuit and GPS modes.
Fast & Furious is a decent racing game with a lot of options. The controls and visuals are functional, but everyone should find something they find enjoyable. Fans of racing games will probably enjoy this.
Movie games are always a gamble. Fast & Furious while not exceptionable, is a decent racing game with a lot of options.
