The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week - December 8th

By , on December 8, 2017

Friday has rolled around, which means that it's time to round up the best games that came out this week on the App Store. Because, after all, that's the sort of thing that we like to do on Friday. That and drinking mimosas on the beach. Mmmmmm beach.

It's been a pretty good week on the App Store all told, as weeks in December usually are. Devs are rushing to get their games out before everyone gets a new iPhone for Christmas or something, I guess. I dunno, I'm not a dev. That's why I'm writing this.

As usual you can click on the names of the games below to grab them from the App Store. And if you've seen anything you think should be included on the list, make sure you chuck them in the comments down there at the bottom of the content.

Reigns: Her Majesty

A game about making choices. You're a queen, and your subjects petition you with questions, and your answers change the esteem they hold you in. You need to balance the different faction's feelings, and figure out what's going on underneath it all. Slick, smart, and an awful lot of fun to play.

Portal Knights

An ARPG set in a giant sandbox that sees you teaming up with other players to peg it around, smash things up, and fight giant bosses. It's a little less overwhelming than other games of the same genre, and if you're a fan of survival games then you're going to absolutely love it.

The Uncertain

A point and click adventure starring a robot. But not a cute robot, an interesting robot. You need to solve a bunch of puzzles, test your skills, and figure out what's going on. It's fun, it's immersive, and there's a whole lot of game here to keep you going.

Amazing Katamari Damacy

I don't really care what you think, Katamari Damacy is one of the finest series that the gaming world has ever produced. It's stupid in all the right ways, and while this mobile version might narrow things down, it's still a big slice of silly fun.

Derrick the Deathfin

A papercraft fish game that sees you chomping on everything that moves. There are a huge number of levels, spread out across a massively detailed world. And you're going to have a lot of fun playing it. I mean, who doesn't want to be a giant stuff-gobbling fish? I don't, but other people might, so knock yourself out.
