By now, I reckon just about everyone and their gran has played a bit of ZeptoLab's Cut the Rope. The cute physics-based puzzler, originally released all the way back in 2010, starred a little green creature called Om Nom, who also happens to be the star of the studio's latest game, Om Nom: Merge.

Unlike Cut the Rope, this one's a fairly straightforward idle game. It sees you working to merge together different types of creatures known as "Nommies". These guys have a real sweet tooth, and they love nothing more than to eat through endless amounts of tasty fruit.

Merging them will create faster, more efficient Nommies, allowing you to earn more rewards even when the app is shut. Every Nommie boasts 3 different looks, meaning there are dozens of them to add to your collection.

Om Nom can help his minions out by using magical spells to do things like replenish fruit at a faster rate. Visually, it looks fairly polished and colourful, though with it being an idle game, I'm not sure how much it'll appeal to fans of Om Nom's previous adventures.

While the Cut the Rope series was super accessible, the games also served up some fun, well-designed puzzles. Despite their kid-friendly aesthetic and mass-market appeal, they had a decent amount of personality.

If you're interested to see whether Om Nom: Merge continues that level of quality, you'll find it available for download now over on the App Store and Google Play.
