Just in time for Halloween, PUBG Mobile’s infection mode is making a grand return.

The battle royale will see this fan favourite mode come back and be available to play from now until 9th November through a free content update.

In PUBG Mobile’s Infection Mode, players are split into two teams; Zombies and Defenders, at the beginning of the match. It’s Zombies goal to defeat everyone on the Defenders team, but if even one Defender survives then they earn the Chicken Dinner win trophy.

Zombies can only use melee attacks and abilities, which when compared to the Defenders’ fully automatic rifles, seems a bit unfair. But the advantage they have is in being able to respawn and constantly hammer away at the opposition’s battle strength. Once defeated, Defenders will become infected and respawn as Zombies, who can even transform into much stronger Fast Zombies, Stealth Zombies, and the Zombie King with huge boosts to defense and attack. Defenders, on the other hand, will transform into powerful fighters called the Vanquisher when there are only three of them left.

In addition to Infection Mode’s return, PUBG Mobile is also adding new Halloween themed cosmetic items for players to use. Zombies can wear Halloween masks, with new atmospheric decorations including jack-o'-lanterns, gravestones and candles, as part of the game’s ‘Halloweeks’ celebrations. More content such as this, including themed outfits and festive content, will be revealed at a later date.

Based on the popular PC and console game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, PUBG Mobile pits up to 100 players against each other when they parachute onto a remote island to battle in a winner-takes-all showdown. They must scavenge around for their own supplies and deal with the ever-shrinking death ring that pushes them inwards towards each other.
