Wizards of the Coast has brought the highly popular card game Magic: The Gathering to mobile in the form of Magic: The Gathering Arena, which originally launched on PC in 2019, and it’s out now as an early access title on Google Play. Full versions for iOS and Android will be available later this year.

In Magic: The Gathering Arena, you collect decks of cards which generate five separate colours of mana, and then play them to cast spells, summon creatures and activate special abilities. You then battle your opponent using your selected deck, with the goal of reducing their life-total to zero while they’re trying to do the same to you.

The mobile version of Magic: The Gathering Arena includes cross-platform support with the PC edition, so you’ll be able to play with any friends who enjoy the game on PC. This also means it has the same content as PC, including the new stuff added with its new Kaldheim expansion. The UI for this version of the game has been updated to accommodate touch-screen devices, ensuring the experiences moves as smoothly as it can.

In addition to new cards, Kaldheim also introduces two new abilities called Boast, which lets activate another ability only if a creature attacked this turn, and Foretell, where you can exile cards from your hand face down to cast later.

When the mobile version of Magic: The Gathering Arena was revealed earlier this month, Wizards of the Coast had this to say: “We want fans to have fun, enjoyable experiences with the long-awaited mobile version of Magic, and we want to make sure our releases are polished and ready to play.”

You can download Magic: The Gathering Arena Mobile from the Google Play Store for Android. The full version of the game will release on iOS and Android later in the year.
