Initially announced earlier this year, miHoYo has announced that their next game, Tears of Themis, will be arriving for iOS and Android on July 29th. It's a departure from the character action gameplay they're known for and will instead see players indulging in romance and detective work.
You will play as a junior attorney at Themis Law Firm and dart around Stellis City, solving a series of strange and interesting crimes. This means investigating crime scenes and questionings suspects to uncover clues and testimonies. After that, it's time to head to court and participate in numerous heated debates.
But it's not all detective work. You will be joined on your adventures by four male characters, who you can forge romantic relationships with. You will be able to unlock special dialogue, video chats and character-specific stories by developing your relationship with them.
If you'd like to get a feel for the game's tone, check out the embedded trailer above. The debates themselves play out a little bit like turn-based battles. You have a series of cards to select from that represent a type of argument that can deal additional “damage” to your opponent's statement, depending on their approach.
Pre-registration for the game opened on June 17th, and since then, over 400,000 players have signed up. If this number hits 500,000 before launch, players will receive several rewards, including a Draw x10. Additionally, players can earn more goodies by completing the Shattered Path puzzle available on the game's official website.
