According to Bloomberg's PowerOn newsletter, Apple has explored establishing its own cloud gaming service in addition to Apple Arcade. When asked if Apple was planning on a cloud gaming service, Mark Gurman, the author of PowerOn, stated that the company had considered it but had not proceeded with the project.

Apple's approach towards cloud gaming

In the past, Apple has expressed opposition to cloud gaming services. However, they have lately permitted cloud gaming applications as long as they adhere to Apple's requirements. These games will be handled like regular games, comparable to those found on Apple Arcade. Changes must be provided for review, creators must supply suitable meta for search, and in-app purchases must be used to unlock features and functionality.

This type of service commonly uses the Safari browser to get past these restrictions. If Apple's cloud gaming service is ever published, these rules will apply to it as well. According to Gurman, the business has considered the possibilities of releasing such services; therefore, Apple might introduce a cloud gaming service alongside Apple Arcade. Depending on how Apple use the technology and considering that they are also the owners of macOS, this could mean that mobile players will be able to play some of the best PC games out there.

More about Apple Arcade

Apple Arcade is an Apple Inc. video game premium service. IOS 13, tvOS 13, iPadOS 13, and macOS Catalina or later devices can access it through a specific tab in the App Store. On September 19, 2019, the service went live. Apple Arcade is not a cloud gaming platform like Google Stadia or Nvidia Geforce Now, which only recently included the phone link functionality. Rather, it's a game premium service that renders the game on the device, as opposed to cloud gaming, which renders the game on the cloud.

Cloud Gaming on mobile platform

Cloud gaming has recently gotten a lot of attention. Cloud gaming services are offered by companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Nvidia. These services let players play high-resolution games by processing the game on the cloud and streaming the visual feed to the player's device.

Because the cloud handles the rendering, cloud gaming does not necessitate high-end hardware. Cloud gaming requires merely a strong internet connection to broadcast the game. This technique has the potential to bring PC games to mobile devices. Any PC game may be played on any mobile device with a sufficient internet connection. These platforms also allow touch controls and controllers for PC games on mobile devices.
