Nermarble has announced the newest update for its massively multiplayer online role-playing game Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds. Planned as part of an episode called Legendary Ancient Genie, this first instalment brings a huge new boss and a plethora of items to grab with it.

The main attraction, as it were, is the introduction of the Legendary Ancient Genie, an encounter that can be tackled with 1 or 5 players in a special new dungeon. Players can advance through this event in various ways, such as finding the Dusk Syndicate who have disguised themselves as NPCs, playing the Episode Dungeon and more. A variety of rewards are available to obtain, including a Familiar Summon Coupon, a Costume Summon Coupon, and completing all missions will net a Traditional Desert Hat.

New items and further content have also been added to the game with this event, with the Legendary Ancient Genie’s Costume and the Magic Carpet Mount being made available. Players can experience an additional dungeon entitled Flaming Knight Ras, with new Field Bosses Stella and Mechargon also milling around to test everyone in battle.

Ni no Kuni burst onto the world stage with the release of Wrath of the White Witch, an enhanced version of the Japanese-only Dominion of the Dark Djinn. Whilst they can claim a relatively high degree of popularity in Japan, Level-5 has been one of the more tragically underrated companies in the western world, being forced to cease its North American operations in October 2020. Even with the popularity brought to them by Professor Layton and the Ni no Kuni series, they never quite established themselves with gamers despite a series of rather exceptional RPGs in the Playstation 2 era with Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy being particular highlights.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is available to download now on the App Store and Google Play, with cross-play capabilities for the PC version.
