Mobile gamers are getting a treat as the multi-award-winning narrative game Before Your Eyes has launched on mobiles exclusively through Netflix. After much praise and awards, the most impressive being winning the 2022 Game Beyond Entertainment BAFTA, mobile gamers will be able to go along with this narrative masterclass wherever the mood takes them.

Taking on the role of the recently deceased Benjamin Brynn, the player finds themselves on a boat helmed by The Ferryman, who is tasked with finding souls that lived extraordinary lives and taking them to the afterlife. As they journey together, Brynn recounts his life and all the choices he has made, as well as his defining moments.

As Brynn finds they can’t speak, all their communication is done via blinking and glances, which is cleverly controlled by the player using their phone's camera. A nifty little mechanic that firmly plants people in the shoes of the protagonist and offers deep immersion into the story as it unfolds. Using this, the important choices of the stories will be selected with just a glance.

“We designed Before Your Eyes as a game that could be played and enjoyed by truly anyone and anywhere, not just experienced gamers, so for us, there is truly no better home for it than Netflix and on mobile,” said Graham Parkes, the games lead writer and creative director. “We use our phone cameras every day to share meaningful daily experiences, so it feels like a natural fit to now use this technology to explore the life of the player’s character and drive their narrative journey”.

Having first launched on Steam in 2021 Before Your Eyes and developers GoodbyeWorld Games immediately gained universal acclaim from players and critics. They then went on an award-winning spree, netting over 15 award wins or nominations, and are now looking to repeat the feat on mobiles.

Before Your Eyes is available on mobile exclusively for gamers with a Netflix subscription and the app on mobile.
