Fans of trains, monsters and card games can rejoice now as the holy trinity comes to mobile with the release of Monster Train. Exclusively on iOS, mobile players can now enjoy the critically acclaimed roguelike card game on an actual train, for the real meta experience.

In a world where hell has frozen over, the player is tasked with defending the last burning pyre in the hopes of reigniting the flames, whilst facing continuous attacks from the creatures of heaven who seek to finally snuff out the fire for good.

First released in 2020, Monster Train received positive reviews from both players and reviewers for its unique gameplay style and received a nomination for Best Strategy/Tactics Game at the 2020 Game Awards.

Unlike most card games that take place with players sitting across a board, Monster Train instead takes place across four floors with the pyre sitting at the top. Players need to defend cargo on the lower three floors simultaneously, choosing which floor to deploy creatures while the enemies advance. Monsters can be improved, and more can be recruited between each fight to protect all three floors from attack.

There are hundreds of cards available to make a deck from, split between six different clans and including twelve unique heroes. Every run of the game is different, with new enemy deployment and the ability to unlock new items, experience new routes, and experiment with new decks and playstyles.

Monster Train is available to purchase on the App Store for $11.99, which includes the full game and the Wild Mutations DLC, which brings 35 mutators, along with numerous bonus maps and units. Those who want a bit more content can also purchase the Last Divinity DLC for a further $4.99, which contains a whole new clan, as well as a dreadfully dangerous endgame boss.
