Temple Gates Games has announced the arrival of the latest expansion to the card game Dominion. Called Plunder, the expansion will launch simultaneously for the mobile app and the card game itself.

Dominion in its physical card game was created by Donald X Vaccarino back in 2008, scooping the Spiel des Jahres and the Deutscher Spiele Preis awards, high honours in the card/board gaming world. It is a deck builder that challenges two to four players to acquire as many powerful cards as possible while also acquiring enough Victory cards to have the most points. Victory cards are fairly useless during play, so it's a delicate matter to build a powerful deck whilst also acquiring enough victory cards to win.

Plunder is the 14th expansion to hit Dominion and contains a huge forty new Kingdom card piles, but it's not just cards being added. The game, still in its beta phase, has added a few new features for its lucky player base. The Daily Dominion is as it sounds, a new challenge every day for you to wake up to and see how well you can perform, earning as high a place as you can on the rankings.

Matchmaking will let players skip the lobby and jump straight into the action by directly connecting you to another player. There are also updated timers and more sound alerts during the game to push the action along more quickly. Remarkably, every single card will now have a custom achievement designed by Vaccarino for you to achieve to prove your card game wizardry. Finally, there are now further preferences you can customise prior to your games, such as making the rules more strict or lax, amongst a few other tweaks to get the most enjoyment out of the game.

Unfortunately for Apple players, the beta is full for these devices, however, there are still a few spaces left for Android, so anyone interested in giving Dominion a whirl should sign up through the official form.
